Indeed. I thought he was quality in the first four rounds.

But it was never going to be a 4 round fight and he was burning fuel by the bucketload to take those rounds. However he showed massive heart and guts and if he wants a rematch he deserves it. But he'll certainly need to rethink his tactics for any return.

He is a classy boxer, I was shocked that he got caught so badly in the fifth. He has a massive heart, I hope he comes back from this - a top fighter.

Hi Hurlock - I'm the 'dick head' that wrote the Q&A! You're right Sam is a cracking lad, he was absolutely gutted when I spoke to him today and - trust me - the 'french' has been well edited out of the piece.

The bits of 'french' that are in there were left simply because of the strength of his emotion and passion at those particular points during the interview.

Cheers.

Wise up, this is boxing - are you one of the people that gets offended when you can pick up swearing from the corner men during a live fight on Sky. Boxing Monthly and a lot of other outlets leave the swearing in their interviews as well - no big deal - certainly doesnt warrant you calling the author of this article a 'dickhead'.

apologies it was abit strong.i havent got anything against swearing in the corner's :!: or in general. it's just journalistic etiquette imo.ofcourse sam is downbeat & drained & would be flying a few fuks around & it doesnt read nice or reflect his character very well.

Hi Hurlock - not sure if the apology was directed at me but if it was - accepted and cheers.

Re journalistic etiquette - agree, there's a time and place for swearing (the 'swear' words were actually edited with an asterisk in the Q&A!) in articles but I felt in this instance it was justified given the way Sam was feeling - and I certainly don't think it reflects badly on him at all.

Guess we'll agree to disagree.

In the pre fight interview Sam Webb said that everyone would see how much it meant to him to be champion; he really did prove it; he has bottle to burn and put many top world champions to shame with his resoluteness. He burnt too much energy in the 1st 4 or 5 rounds but was winning handily; Prince Arron did well to get back into it and held his boxing together very well. In a rematch I imagine that Sam has taken a lot out of himself, Arron will get better and better.

I hope he gets his chance for a rematch, he more than deserves it. It was a cracking fight too, great match-up of styles, close, it ebbed and flowed, etc etc so there's plenty of reasons to make a re-match happen. Get it on.

That was a good interview, even if it came from an unbiased source. Webb came across very well, I thought, and a burst eardrum would be consistent with the problems he was suffering after the knockdown. No disrespect to Arron at all in this, he fought well, but I'd like to see Webb given a rematch — someone who shows the balls he did deserves one in my book.
