Re: Rob Medley???
Why did he retire?
Re: Rob Medley???
If he has retired you would have to wonder why.

Are you serious? what a waste of god given talent.
Re: Rob Medley???
I actually really wanted to see a fight between Waters & Medley, would of been a good aussie showdown, Medley coming away with the tko id expect.
Re: Rob Medley???
Always wanted to see Medley clean up Australia then head over seas.
Australian fighters at L/middle would have been Dawson, Waters and Lo Porto.
And would have liked to have seen him head to middleweight as well.

Re: Rob Medley???
I think you can tell from looking at his record that Medley wasn't quite good enough to cut it internationally. When he did step up against Isaac Hlatshwayo he was easily beaten, twice. Reportedly his fight with Tui Leveni was very close too, despite two of the cards being very wide. He only ever knocked out low level fighters and lost each time he faced someone good. He was a good local level fighter and I'd have loved to have seen him against the three fighters you mentioned as well as Bryant. I think all would be highly competitive fights, possibly all would go the distance.Hounddawg wrote:Always wanted to see Medley clean up Australia then head over seas.

The leaveni fight, was gold, he won by about 7 rounds, but every second of every round was fought. Hlatswayo was in career form, for me he never got the right fights to build upon. The fights I mentioned, and he would axe bryant
Re: Rob Medley???
Bryant vs Medley would be a 50/50.
If you havnt seen Robbie fight you shouldnt assume. As he is a tough bastard. He gave Fletcher a tough fight even though the cards are wide. And had Fletcher badly hurt just before the bell in the 6th.

Re: Rob Medley???
I agree, Hlatshwayo was possibly then a top 5 welterweight and much better than anyone Medley had fought before or since and Medley simply had never faced anyone near his level. A bit like Daniel Dawson, he didn't have the build-up fights he needed before taking on the top level.Hounddawg wrote:jezzamundo wrote:I think you can tell from looking at his record that Medley wasn't quite good enough to cut it internationally. I think you're underrating Bryant - he's basically at the same level as Dawson (I've seen them spar on a couple of occasions and neither got the better of the other) and LoPorto, who he was unlucky to lose to in a very close fight. In fact Bryant could be seen as being better than Dawson as he certainly gave LoPorto the tougher fight. Looking at other mutual opponents, Bryant smashed Jeremy Allan in 2 rounds who went the 8 rounds distance with Medley. Both knocked out Abhay Chand in 3. Ultimately I think Medley should be a narrow favourite to win on points, especially if it's in NSW. Held in WA, I think it's a 50:50 fight, I can't see Medley stopping Bryant but I can definitely see Bryant stopping Medley.

You shouldn't assume i haven't ?????Sweet P wrote:Bryant vs Medley would be a 50/50.

Fletcher still has the KO 2 hanging over his head, so nothing sways my decision on going 12.
Was an advocate of Fletch, until i seen Piper start finding a home on his chin, knew then that he had defense lapses. Thought he just nicked it against lo Porto, but either way was fine.
Medley walks over Dawson and Bryant, just my opinion, Dawson was a favorite fighter of mine in the early days, he's just a guy who didn't really have a good prep career, a cash fighter who built his record on domestic and imported cabbies.
Bryant needs to fight more to have said he actually gave his all, but if they fought tomorrow, Medley decisions him wide.

Re: Rob Medley???
When Rob sparred on the Davey Browne fundraiser, from memory against Bilal Akkawy, he looked like he put on a bit of 'condition'. Moved and put his combos together pretty well though.
