Macklin Robbed!!!

Post by Chambers2 »

No way Macklin lost that fight, he outworked and outhustled Sturm. I had it clear to Macklin

WTF was Jim Watt going on about! He gave Macklin no credit for his workrate in the second half of the fight. TERRIBLE night for Jim IMO

It was close and to be honest I had my money on Sturm and at the final bell I thougt I had lost my bet by 3-4 rounds on every card. I happy I won the bet but really it was more for a sturm KO in the mid rounds, Macklin boxed out of his skin and really impressed me. I know they say you have to strip the belt from the holder but I honestly thought he had done it tonight. Full respect to Macklin for an excellent nights boxing tonight and fairly play to both boxer for a good fight.

Robbed, yet I;d tend to agree, he should be going home with the belt but we all now by know how you win belts in Germany, Only by KO.

Did Macklin have a higher work rate and throw more punches - yes

But hitting arms elbows and gloves with 80 % of your shots does not win you a world title fight.

Sturm won clearly with better quality and more effective punches, if anyone looked like they were about to get stopped it was Macklin.

Brave performance though from the Brummie, and a good fight to watch.

The scorecards to Sturm were pure BS. 4 rounds up is pure fantasy.

Macklin won that fight for me. (admittedly I am bias).

If the fight was outside of Germany he would have be wearing a world title belt now though for my money.

Best fight I`ve seen for a long time.

I had Sturm up by a round. Cracking effort from Macklin though. Sturm is a tough nut.

Not a robbery.
More work by macklin but cleaner more eye catching work from sturm.

No, i dont think Macklin was robbed. He put in a tremendous performance but I think Sturm did the more effective work.

Macklin can hold his head up high.

I feel Matthew won aswell big shame and i do think jim watt is a little crazy with his commentary sometimes as macklin shots were much more eyecatching than he was getting credit for as he hurt sturm a few times and it failed to be noticed and great work rate, but i do feel sturm seemed a little flat and took ages get into the contest maybe a weight thing?? but quality from Macklin shows he is world class always enjoyed watching him

I thought Macklin won, is it a robbery? I think 116-112 on 2 cards is a robbery yes. I had it 2-3 rounds to Macklin.

I do wish Watt would score and commentate without worrying 'what the judges are doing'. I know he's keeping everyone in check but he scored it a draw when some of the rounds he gave to Sturm were clear macklin rounds with Sturm throwing maybe 5-6 punches.

Whatever we all knew he wouldn't get it out in germany, bastards that they are.

To be honest I'm not a fan of Jim Watt's analysis. I preder lsitening to Barry McGuigan.

But that cant be true mate. Because at the end of the eleventh round Sturm had landed something like (only) eight shots less than Macklin.

Was he robbed? In my opinion yes. He won that fight.

How the judges scored the fight 4 rounds ahead to Sutrm is a shame and a disgrace.

It's not Sturm winning that stinks !
It's that the two judges he gave 116-112 must have written their cards at the start of the fight

I scored it 3 times,
1 - As fairly and unbiased as I saw it, 115-113 Macklin :)
2- Imagining I was watching in Germany and swayed by the crowd etc. 115-114 Sturm
and finally
3 - AS BIASED AS COULD IMAGINE GETTING AWAY WITH - 116-112 Sturm. :witzend:

If Sturm had hung on by Majority Draw, or won a UD by 114-113 all three, Macklin would be merely unlucky.
As it is, he was robbed.... :witzend:

Pretty much how I saw, it. Neither guy was close to be stopped, though the better shots, time and time again, were Sturms who's were clean and hard.
