Jesse James Leija has withdrawn from his scheduled fight with Francisco "Panchito" Bojado on January 24 in Atlantic City due to a rib injury sustained in sparring. This fight has been jinxed from the start. First Bojado pulled out with flu, then decided to go through with it after an ominous warning from HBO that they couldn't televise a rescheduled meeting due to a full boxing diary, and now this.
At least the Gatti-Branco main event is still on. Gatti would have to lose an arm before he pulled out injured.

Not bad if Bojado isn't fully fit.adamiw wrote:Talk of Augustus coming in as a replacement.
In some ways, I'm quite glad this one isn't happening. I don't want know more excuses if Leija won (and Bojado had a valid one lined up). If Bojado would have won, then that would have been the end of Leija and I think he's too good to be a stepping stone - but he's fighting in the wrong weight devision.
