Can somebody explain what this is?

I see they have signed up George Hillyard whom is fighting in September on one of their bills. Are these fights and fighters not governed by the BBBofC?

How many times has this come up? It's unlicensed boxing. There not licensed by the BBBofC most of them have lost there licenses for one reason or another.

IBA is a semi pro organisation from essex/east London..they have a few good lads who havnt turned pro&a few pros who might do well....If you can sell tickets ud prob make better cash on there shows....Some good names are turning to them now...A lad who i boxed as a junior who won national titles as a youth is there currant middleweight champion i beleive...Stevie Martin!! he cant be botherd to train like a pro,but make great £££ doing that...

Most of the fights are even bigger mis-matches than in Pro boxing.

Ive been to a few IBA shows, basically the home fighters are paying to beat someone up! So uncompetitive its unbelievable! But people think the boxers are the next tyson because they smashing everyone!

I believe George is taking the fight to make a bit of money so he can pay for his pro licence (which has lapsed), amongst other things.

you get alot of have ago charlies(keep fitters) who get slung in so there coach pockets a squid or two

or some juiced up tits who dont realise that being 3x what you should be puts you in with people that are strong & naturally like that & end up gassing out after a burst of work & get totally shown up, can be fun at times

Yes i agree with you there, a boxer with a half decent Amateur pedigree fighting some one who isnt got enough to enter the abas....you could get a fat lad like me,who had a couple of wins on the iba stage then box a ex top Amateur or ex pro...people pay for this tho mates etc&they make decent ££££

I was at one IBA show and rocky muscas was fighting he looked fat and like he hadnt trained for a long time. I was to talkin to the MC for the night and he was trying to tel me that muscas had fought ricky hatton and gone 12 rounds with him! He wouldnt have it that muscas nether fought hatton. Then the main fight was a muscle bound 6 footer agaist a small fat polish lad! I couldnt believe it! When muscle man knocked the fat polish lad out in the first, muscle man started callin him a wanker and the crowed started a chant of easy easy easy! I will nether go to a IBA show again. Im not dead agaist unlicensed boxing just would like to see some fair fights.

Mark Potter the heavy who boxed Danny Williams for the Lonsdale belt went 20 fights undefeated&beat Butterbean in one round,hes now doing ok in the MMA fighting...there is is plenty of mismatches in the iba....

I just have absoloutly no interest in mma. I don't even watch it when its on t.v, I had/have no interest in unlicensed boxing either.

Im finding myself getting more interested in the ukmma a mate of mine is up&coming in the light heavyweight division&i never thought id like it,but if someone offerd me a free ticket id chose mma over boxing anyday...Just so much more excitement,insted of 80-20% fights if were lucky fights...

May be on the world level.... IBA is the a semi pro/white coller organisation in the essex/east london area also...

Tommy is that Steve martin from colchester ? I went junior school with him in basildon ? Didn't know he was still boxing.

He used to box out of Colchester ABC,never boxed as a senior in the Ams but was a very good schoolboy/junior..its defo him who is there middleweight champ(his sister boxed pro for a while Shanee Martin)

No such thing as semi pro!! Either pro or amatuer! Haven't got any time for it, it's unlicensed boxing, people who know nothing about boxing call it semi pro! Fair play to the White colla boys men who just wanna get in and give it a go but unlicensed is miss match heaven
