I don't like Bonavena's chances against anyone but Shavers.

Knocks out Shavers in the middle rounds. Gets knocked out early by Tyson, stopped late by Holyfield and drops decisions to the rest.

He would 'Lamon Brewster' Klitschko and knock him out. He'd also beat Spinks and stop Shavers late.ThatOne wrote:Jerry Quarry

Loses to Tyson, Vitali, Holyfield and Quarry (in another war).

Re: Oscar Bonavena V
I always liked Bonavena to spring the mild upset & beat Quarry, in as Dempsey states, a great clash.
I think he gets Spinks & Shavers (both usually over-estimated) outta there, but the rest have his measure. The K-Bros by decision, & Tyson & Holyfield each by stoppage --- the former early-to-mid, the latter, very late.

Shavers, mid round stoppage win.
Holyfield, depending with version, either way.
Both Klitschko's, decision losses
Tyson, decison loss, possible late round stoppage.
Spinks, decision loss.

Re: Oscar Bonavena V
He would have a decent chance vs Quarry. A lot would depend on how smart of a fight Quarry would fight.
Would probably beat the klitschkos. wladimir has no chin and Bonavena would probably get to him eventually. Vitali has no defense and Bonavena would probably out-busy him and win a decision.
He would lose to Holyfield and Tyson.
Shavers fight could go either way.
Hard to say with Spinks. He probably loses a tough decision.

Shavers stamina was very suspect, but everyone else has an easy, straight-forward win. Bonavena was as slow and predictable as sludge water.
Re: Oscar Bonavena V
Well quite a variety of interesting assessments.
Here's my take.
His worst beatings would be at the hands of Quarry and Holyfield.
He has a bit of a chance with Shavers, and I think he puts in a good days work and a nearly acceptable show for the audience with the K bros most likely to his disappointment as the judges won't give it to him in either case.
Tyson might spark him in a mid round or pull a bonecrusher sort of win, and I don't see him giving Spinks much more than a few rough spots along the way as Spinks safely puts the win away, or takes advantage of a mistake by Ringo and possibly ends it like Ali did.
He's a tough customer, but he just don't win the big ones. He's tougher than he is skilled.
Ruiz just might hug a win out of him, and Jones and Toney would likely slip past him to the winners circle as well.
He looked his very best as a durable punching bag for Frazier and a man who could knock Joe down, and as a surprise agitant against an uninspired Ali.
....and yet we look back and give Ali a bit of a sentiment boost because Ali could put him away when Joe couldn't. This was strictly due to the fact that Oscar was more rugged, than he was conditioned.... or skilled.

Out of these guys? He has the best possible chance to beat Quarry and Shavers; he goes the distance in a losing effort with Michael Spinks, same with Holyfield; gets kayoed by Tyson and the Klitschko's.ThatOne wrote:Jerry Quarry
