Many moons ago, when BOXING NEWS was an affordable newpaper, I seems to recall a news item, and photograph, about a trophy which BN was going to present to the next British heavyweight to win the world title. It seemed to be made of silver gilt, was about 9" in height with a round base and surmounted with a globe. Does anyone remember this or whether it was presented to Lennox?
Around the same time it was mentioned that outright winners of the Lonsdale belt had an annuity purchased for them by the Board which meant they received a small pension when reaching the age of 50. Does my memory serve me correctly?
