Can anyone with knowledge, or memory, of the original Jimmy Sharman boxing troupe provide me with any information about my father who was known as Herbie (Bert) Smith and fought as "Young Milburn". I think he may be the third man from the left (next to the drummer) on stage in a 1934 photo taken in Ballarat, however I know my father spent some of his youth in Nth Queensland and a gold claim was registered in his name (Oakley Herbert Smith) in Charters Towers. His birth certificate lists his name as Herbert George Oakley RAINBOW. Thanks and I look forward to receiving your comments.

I think Herbert George Oakley Smith or Rainbow is the son of my great grand mother. His sister would have been Norma Rainbow, and Mildred Rainbow, Hildred Rainbow in New Zealand. I think there was Ethel as well. Norma is my grandmother. Hope this helps.??

Thomas and Mary separated but did not divorce
1903 - Herbert George Oakley Rainbow (father not recorded)
- became Herbert Oakley Smith
1905 - 1935 Norma Caulton Rainbow (father not recorded)
- Norma married Leonard Francis Cootes in Otaki in 1929
- she died aged 30

- Mary Ethel died in 1910 aged 37

So that you are aware my mother is the daughter or Norma CAULTON Rainbow. Herbert is her brother. Norma married a Cootes as you can see on the previous information.
