Crolla back in the frame for Morales!!!

Post by goldenears »

Mathysse out, Anthony has said he'll do it - the lad is a proper boxers' boxer. Another step up in weight against a legend - a big ask, mainly because of weight and being in Vegas and Goldenboy/WBC's plans for Morales as a box office draw - Crolla will basically have to stop him and that might be tough given he could still easy make SFW IMHO, but the lad has to be admired.

One of the most decent, dedicated pro boxers out there, massively improved and deserves a payday, and hopefully a performance that puts him onto the world stage

Thought it interesting on Ringside last night when Ed referred to Joe Gallagher not being keen on Crolla fighting over there.

Joe G tells me they're up for it but the reward must match the risk - at late notice, Ant should be paid for 'saving' Morales's appearance on the show

Ah, that makes sense. He's right, hope Crolla does get well paid for it.

agree with James H. Hitting a higher weight after being messed about so much, such a risk, Crolla deserves a lottery payday.

If he does go for it, all credit to him and i sincerely hope he shocks the world after the WBC have done all they can to gift Morales a belt. CRolla is a tidy fighter, and has all the skills, its just a matter of is the size a problem. Its possible he could negate the size difference with his speed, he just needs to make sure he doesnt get involved in a ruck with the legend, because thats when he's in trouble. Lets not forget until the stoppage Limmond i think it was , was giving Morales all sorts of troubles, he just gassed early in unfamilliar territory and decided to go out on his shield in a war.

I favour Morales most definitely but if Limmond can make it difficult then Crolla is still a live underdog at late notice, HBO will reward him handsomely for a good showing at late notice, with incentives of returning to the network for a decent payday in better fights???

I think he has the tools TBH. He has to use his speed & be in & out. I have no doubts about his fitness one of the fittest I have seen.

Morales took Maidana all the way because he was landing some punishing shots. I thought Maidana did well to stand up to it and likewise for Morales taking the shots off Maidana.

I love Crolla, the boy is class in and out of the ring but I think this is a huge step up for him and not sure he has the power to peg back Morales. Id rather he didnt take this, defends his british against Limmond and then steps up a bit later on.

Morales at his weight could muller him, hope thats not the case. If he takes it then he deserves a good purse and im sure he'll have all british bxing fans right behind him!

I think Crolla should step in but im pretty sure that Joe G can't be in his corner as he will be in Stephen Smiths. Its not the worst thing though massive exposure for Crolla and a good payday most likely and he probably is fairly aware of Morales tactically as he has been watching lots of tapes of him in preparation for their fight that fell through.

if the fight happens, i hope crolla tries to punch holes in that old body of morales'. the weight does not seem ideal, nor do the circumstances (off, then maybe back on).

x3 he has nothing to lose and everything to gain. I'd love to see him get the opportunity.
Sure it will be tough but its not the Morales from 6 or 7 years ago is it?

x2

My only concern is him going there without Joe G in his corner because as earlier mentioned, Joe G is likely to be in Stevie smiths corner on the same night.

I guess that with him stepping in with late notice it'll be worth the while in £££'s (i'd hope so anyway) and if he can manage a win then his career will really take off!

I mean, this is potentially a fight against a boxing legend as chief support to one of the greatest boxers currently active. Opportunities like this don't come knocking very often and i don't think any boxing fan will think any less of Crolla if he loses......

Good luck if it comes off! :TU:
Exactly how I see it mate :OhYes:

:TU: That is a real factor in it, you get to fight a legend who's still a warrior but past his peak on the biggest stage imaginable...it's a no-brainer really.
