I think that Ortiz butting Floyd has made people less likely to piss on floyd for taking advantage of some sloppy refereeing and a docile Ortiz who shouldn't have been looking at the referee.................

agreed it was cheating but how many fights have we seen that in, if a fighter wants to loose a point in order to gain absolutely nothing like ortiz did thats up to him. If PBF had been dropped by it thats another story.

Haven't seen it yet but from the sounds of it Mayweather was well within his rights. The fight was back on and they'd touched. If someone had butted me on purpose he'd have had the left right combination as he raised his hand

The point had been taken by Cortez, he waved them together, the 2 fighters walked to the middle and Ortiz carried on apologising trying to hug Floyd, Floyd acknowledged and then started throwing, Ortiz went down and that was that.

Floyd was well within his rights IMO, personally I think Ortiz had given up mentally. He was getting taken to school, barely landed a shot. Floyd said he can have a rematch if he wants one, can't say fairer than that considering Ortiz's headbutt, which was disgraceful.

Yeah i've just seen it, he'd already apologised so should have been ready to continue. The only person to blame is Ortiz

All Merchant did was ask the question(s) that needed to be asked and Floyd blew his top. The finish was clearly a cheap shot, but Ortiz was a muppet for not being more on the ball.

All in all it was another shitty night for boxing. Floyd brings a lot of interest to boxing that doesn't normally happen, but a lot of people (I would even say the majority) end up being disappointed at the end of it. That seems to be to common with Floyd fights.

This is why i'd rather watch Pacquiao regardless of who is the better of the two (I think Floyd would win).

To be fair floyd answered the question (he pretty much said it was legal, ortiz used diirty tactics first so whats there to cry about?) - larry put the question across to him as a dig and his own personal opinion then changed it to - "what would you say to the people in the audience who think this". Floyd acted like a spoilt brat and a prize fighter squaring up to an old man shouting "you're sh*t" right in his face is piss poor. Larrys response was great but thats only the second good thing i've ever seen him do in an interview.

Merchant comes across as an absolute pudendum there. He knows what he's doing and that he's trying to rile Mayweather. We criticise ref's when they make the fight about them, i think Merchant tries to make himself the talking point of fights

'i wish i was 50 years younger so that i could kick your ass'

What an absolute muppet.

Do you not think that Larry is entitled to ask a question about the ending, particularly when there is some pretty vociferous booing from the crowd and the footage shown in the ring shows that the hapless Joe Cortez wasn't looking at the fighters?

Floyd acted like a spoilt child and to square up to a man 50 odd years his senior, demanding his sacking from the TV company that has made Floyd a very rich man and telling him "you ain't sh1t" are actions I wouldn't expect from my 2 year old. I think Merchants response was pretty reasonable in those circumstances.

Merchant's been cringeworthy for years, it's way past the point now where he should have been replaced.

As for his outburst about kicking Floyd's ass, incredibly unprofessional and again embarrassing.

Merchan is a hating spiteful old c--t. He was almost kissing dlh whenever he interviews him. Bhop tore him up once. Ortiz was done. Little boy out of his league so tried to cheat. Dont be fooled by merchant. He just likes being on tv. 50 years younger? Any version of floyd kicks his ass. HBO should get merchant a desk Job. Drunk bastard. Cortez is another camera whore. Floyd needs to be active. Saw a bit of rust for the first time. Great punches to finish of dlh's little puppet. Rooooooooooooaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr!!!

Bit offensive there. Rule number one of boxing. Protect yourself at all times. If Ortiz is busy enjoying being on tv then more fool him.

I agree he should have been protecting himself, I stated that. Just called you an idiot because you thought they were great finishing punches, against a man not (stupidly) defending himself.

I'll second all of that :TU:

Merchant did nothing wrong, he asked the right questions IMO. Mayweather's imaturity shone through once again by throwing his toys out of the pram for no real reason. Merchants response to his child like rant was pure class! Their spat was the highlight of the night, much more interesting than the fight itself.

Joe Cortez should take the brunt of the blame for the ending. I did not hear him say box on, but he certainly waved them back into action, albeit not authoratively, he then proceeded to take his eye of the ball for over 5 seconds and by then it was all over. Bottom line is though Ortiz should have protected himself 'at all times'.

I believe Ortiz could possibly have beaten the count, but may have opted not to.

Ortiz lost it doing that and the ref should have thrown him out anyway if you ask me, but In the spirit of sportsmanship I thought it was two very cheap shots by Mayweather but like they say 'protect yourself at all times'. Wasn't the first time Mayweather lashed out at a guy like that. He did it to Gatti in their fight.

Also, how does Mayweather get away with so blatantly using his foream to fend off opponents. It's ridiculous.

And the post-fight interview reaffirmed what a jerkov he is. I'd love to see Pacquaio give him a beating. Guy's a grade-one asshole.

More chance of Yid eating a pork chop than Pacman beating Floyd.
