Is Joe Gallagher boxings answear to Arsene Wenger

Post by dapug »

I bet Joe will be looking for his old job back as a baggage handler at the airport now his bucket carrying skills have been found out. Great fighters make great trainers!!!!!!

It dosent make him a bad trainer.. I strongly believe a trainer is only as good as his boxer :box:

What have you got against Gallagher? Being compared to Wenger is like being compared to Pol Pot or Fred West.

Joe Gallagher has changed Steve style no head movement, and as him boxing like John Murry needs to go back to his old style he was taking to many punches in my opinion

I follow Joe and most of Joe's fighters on twitter and Murray hasn't been mentioned since the defeat. Not sure if he is having a break or if he's left though

indeed, not worth wasting my time. I only follow them all to get news as it happens. Just like Martin Murray announcing he's fighting Sturm.

The fact that Joe was no quality boxer doesn't make him a bad trainer. I think his problem is we have seen a few of his fighters recently with no plan b when the pressure is on. The hype of his winning streak and his alleged ego issues causing the break up with KK has probably lead to this situation.

They all need to go away and work hard and learn from this period.

The general tone of this thread leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.
Questioning whether Joe G has "been found out" is ridiculous, it doesn't even make sense.
A couple of defeats within a successful stable and all of a sudden the armchair warriors hit the keyboards.
How many boxers did Joe have out on Saturday?
How many won?
Come on, let's cut the hysteria.

He had a few out,but on paper they should have all been wins...Im not one who jumped on Gallaghers back as i said on this thread your only as good as your fighters... Take nothing away from Selby,he might be the find of the season(if you didnt already know about him) :TU:

Mike, if I am somehow part of your armchair warriors comment, then please let me know what part of my post suggests I say Joe has been found out. I was pointing out a valid concern against some successful skillful fighters which he is responsible for. I like pretty much all the Boxers Joe looks after and wish them all the best, hence why I suggest they all need to go away and learn and yes, that includes Joe, bear in mind he has only had 50+ fights in the corners.

Good post, agree with most of it - apart from the silly "armchair warrior" comment.

Never thought of you when I posted my reply, think you need to take another look at the first post on this thread to understand the reasoning behind my post.
Have followed JG since the ams and like all of us, he probably learns something new everyday, I know I do, and then sets about trying to build that into what he's already learned.
All I'd say to the 'armchair warriors' is he hasn't done bad for a 50 fight novice has he.

No worries matey. I agree he has built a very good stable and has a very good record and hope he learns a lot from the most recent outings and the guys come back bigger and better.

I've never met the guy so have not axe to grind BUT that camp has set itself up for a fall by hyping that winning run in the way that they did. When it inevitably came to an end people were always gonna have something to say. So if you're gonna big yourself up when you're winning you've gotta be able to take the stick when things go against you.

Changing the subject slightly, what on earth has happened to Stephen Smith? Looked a great prospect a few years ago but struggled badly against Simpson and took an alarming number of shots against Selby. Proved his heart but where's his boxing gone?

I think he needs to think very carefully about the future and somehow get himself boxing again - footwork, jab, head movement; wars like that dont suit him and will have him out the sport pretty sharpish, in my humble opinion.

I can't understand why some have decided to round on Gallagher. His stable was on a tremendous run, I don't see what's wrong with them basking in their collective success - they all work hard and if you can't acknowledge and celebrate the good times what's the point? I would hope that Lee Selby's team similarly bask in the glory of Lee's superb win at the weekend.

Gallagher's a very good and knowledgeable trainer. I don't see why he should take the bulk of criticism for Stephen Smith's performance on Saturday night. I was disappointed with Smith in both of his fights with John Simpson and even then he looked a long way short of the supposed world class force some argued he was. The signs were there that Smith either a) wasn't as good as some suspected or b) needed to work on several aspects of his game long before Selby got to him.

For every Stephen Smith there's also an Anthony Crolla, who few would argue that Gallagher hasn't done an excellent job with him.

Very few boxers actually have a plan B, and the ones that do are usually at the top of the pro game.
