No they are not. Charley Raymond was of Williamsburg, Brooklyn and was still a 112-pound amateur at the local Trinity Club in mid 1927. Gaston Charles apparently only used the name 'Charley Raymond' upon his arrival in North America in 1923-1925, and before he settled in Cleveland, as he did for his two fights in Canada in 1925.
