8 round fights?

Post by Craig14 »

Why are there not many 8 round fights on shows anymore? I can understand the need for masters titles but surely they shouldn't be 10 round fights, it's usually an upcoming pro against a good standard journeyman and 10 rounds seems too many. Fighters seem to go straight from 6x3 to 10x3 (with 4 rounds of cruise control) also why are there so many 6x2 fights now especially amongst the lighter weights, are they not fit enough to do 3 minute rounds? Just a couple of questions. Anyone with answers?

Because you can get away with calling the traditional 8 round fight and inter continental title fight!

Hiya yid how ya doin? I got told that the amount of tickets a fighter has to sell for a ten rounder isn't much more than an 8 rounder but an 8 rounder is quite a bit more than a 6 rounder so it is best to jump straight to a 10 rounder as having a title to fight for makes selling tickets easier. as for the 6x2 round fighters I don't see the point in it id imagine its for amateur styles to rack the points up or like you said fitness. It doesn't appeal to me tho. hopefully stepping up to 6 rounds next fight then looking for a title by the middle of next year as long as all goes well. after that an assault on the top 10th I reckon!!!

And I think with so many minor alphabetty titles about they have become less common, for instance a big name fighter coming off a loss who would usually ease back in with an 8 rounder is now easing back in with a 10 round intercontinental of mumbai jobcentre title fight

There's no need for masters titles at all. It's time they were binned.
