Alex Arthur title comeback still a possibility

Post by bennie »

Salisbury's Henry Castle is still being considered as Alex Arthur’s opponent on March 27 in Edinburgh for the vacant British super-featherweight title.
Michael Gomez, who so dramatically dethroned Arthur for the title last October, appears likely to relinquish his belt to pursue a revenge win over WBU champion Kevin Lear in April or May.
If the Manchester fighter decides to follow that route, then Sports Network will stage Arthur-Castle for the vacant British title on March 27.
"I’ve heard Castle’s name mentioned," said Arthur yesterday. "Nothing is confirmed as yet, because they are still waiting for official news on whether Gomez is going to give up the British title.
"It would obviously be good news for me if it was for the Lonsdale Belt, although I am still determined to get a rematch with Gomez somewhere down the line."
Kevin Sanders, who co-manages Castle with Eugene Maloney, confirmed last night that his boxer is in the frame to face Arthur.
"If a deal can be put together, then it’s a fight we would have no problem making," said Sanders. "At the moment it’s only been mentioned informally, but something could develop over the next few weeks.
"Henry is due to box on a show at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on 20 February, but assuming nothing goes wrong that night, there wouldn’t be a problem for him to fight in Edinburgh five weeks later."

Can't see Arthur having too many problems with Castle to be honest, that us why i feel this fight will happen. Despite what he says though i doubt Arthur is really relishing another match with Gomez, i think Gomez surprised him a little with his resolve in that fight.
