Naw, he’s a double genius. When Paul McCartney sings you listen. When Russell Crowe acts you watch. When Toney fights you can’t help but feel a frisson of excitement.

When he beat Jirov I almost broke my ankle, a table, upset my neighbour and turned my back on the BBC (they carried the fight but lost sound on the post-fight analysis and didn’t carry an interview with JT).

Not even John Terry can dim JT’s brilliance. And John's an effing ass clown.

I was gutted when he beat Nunn but I'd really grown to like him by the time he lost to Roy Jones - the good old days, when you could watch all these american superstars on ITV.

I think Lebedev's last fight with Jones was on a free stream, so was hoping allegedly would pick this up on special offer. Toney is a living legend, a true genius, though a fat one these days. He should win this, but he definitely doesn't want to get hit too much by the rock hard Russian, who's got a face that would make a mule back away from a bucket of oats.

Toney hasn't fought a great deal in recent times and unlike Hopkins, i don't think he will be a succesful fighter in his 40's !!

James is entertaining on you tube and there seems to be countless videos of him talking about everybody in boxing. It's funny when he runs his mouth off at people and calls out everyone and anyone who can put on a pair of boxing gloves, but the reality is that he is a washed up fighter trying to cash in on his name. The cage fighting stuff was a complete embaressment and he hasn't fought a top level fighter in years. James is perhaps skilled enough to not get into major trouble with Lebedev, but he will lose the fight by a landslide, because whether or not he is in shape, he is an old fighter who's skills have declined a lot.

Maybe this fight with Lebedev is a way for Toney to entice Roy Jones to fight him at cruiserweight, ie, if he somehow beats Lebedev, he can say to Jones "He knocked you out, i beat him........lets get it on" because i feel he still has unfinished business where Roy Jones is concerned. Also, don't be suprised if he starts talking up a Hopkins fight down the line, but that is all if he beats Lebedev and i personally don't think he has a chance of beating him.

Toney will lose the fight but i don't think he will be knocked out, maybe stopped by the ref if he is not doing much and comes under a barrage of punches, but where as Jones was moving up in weight for that fight, Toney has been at heavyweight for a long time now. Also Jones relies ort did rely on his speed, where a Toney has good defensive skills so a points loss is more likely.

True but he looks old and slow in this clip below, he weighed 257lbs earlier this year, dropping all that weight must be tough at his age. I can just see Lebedev keeping the pace up into the late rounds. Where old Toney should slow down badly. Like you say maybe he ends up on the defensive just to stay in the game.

And I think you'll find that he is a fat old middle, super-middle and cruiserweight champion with wins over Michael Nunn, Mike McCallum, Reggie Johnson, Iran Barkley, Tim Littles, Charles Williams, Vassilly Jirov and Evander Holyfield. He also did a better job on John Ruiz than most only for it to be changed to a NC. A legend, basically, who has been one of the most talented fighters in the world year in, year out for his entire career and who often ditched discipline but still racked up an impressive list of achievement. Talk of 'old school' all you like but Toney is unlikely to quit out if he's pushed over.

Put on his arse?! He got clipped with a left after dropping his hands and sticking chin out then was bundled back and kept up by the ropes resulting in the ref counting him. His 'arse' never touched the canvas. Perhaps you are thinking of the Reggie Johnson fight in which his backside actually touched the canvas. But that would imply that you'd actually watched his bouts when you so clearly haven't as you wouldn't make those silly mistakes.

On the other hand you've managed to research his list of opponents using Boxrec's database. Well done you.

A few other things: Benn did Iran in a round but committed a foul and the 3 knockdown rule played a huge part. He officially won against Tiberi so whatever you and other think of the result you should use '...' when saying it was a loss. Speaking of which, many felt Toney won the first fight with Montell, including HBO and others but it went down as a L.

I can post videos to the relevant fights if you'd like? They're quite enjoyable when viewing them for the first time.
