punchstats from burns vs katsidis

Post by boxerbob »

taken from the scene

burns threw 1012...221 landed
kats threw 963......196 landed

great effort and i think this shows that the judges cards were far too wide

I don't know why people think neater work = much more accurate/effective work.

Did anyone have it 9-3 like the judges? All the fans seem to have it between 116-112 and 115-114 which shows it was close, competitive and not the one sided fight the judges seemed to have.

There are a few people on here who had it around 117-111/117-112 (118-110 in King Gs case) and are convinved that Burns put on a clinic. It seems that mosst people saw a close fight though.

Hopefully Burns doesn't take a retrograde step by defending against opponents like Laryea; he really shines when he's up against it and imo he has one of the most complete punch selections in all of boxing.

Defence against Mitchell might make sense...

I know most were hitting Ricky Burns gloves but I thought that Katsidis threw alot more punches.

Dont see how anyone could call this a close fight. Katsisis barely landed a telling blow in the entire contest. I thought Burns dominated from start to finish - the scorecards were spot on.

I had Burns leading, then Kat clawing it back, then being edged-out in the last 2 rounds.

No way it was as wide as it was, but the right man won which is what matters.

you cant relate punch stats to scoring im afraid..... for instance....and i quote a mythical example

katsidis wins round one 25-4 in punches landed

burns wins round 2 with 19-18 punches landed

the fight is still level but katsidis is 20 punches landed ahead!!.... punch stats are compiled over the whole fight, the scores are judged round by round!!!
