Not his fault this time but Maloney really needs to get Price busier. I know his career was stalled somewhat by Hayemaker at the start but his last fight was back in June. He needs to be fighting every 6 to 8 weeks at the moment like Fury is.

I can see 2012 being a great year for Price but I thought it would stem from beating McDermot quite convincingly. It makes me wonder why he's been so inactive when he's only been going a round or two in his last couple of fights. Maybe they are timing it right for the Klit's to retire before pushing Price forwards because from what we've seen, he looks to be the most promising out of all the current crop.

Injuries do happen and I'm sure both the fighters are gutted. I can't see this fight happening now because surely John has been inactive too long to wait for another couple of months with nothing happening.

That's another of the positives with allegedly, flexibility and the relatively limitless availability of dates in comparison to Sky's format of a certain amount of dates for each promoter they work with. Already we've seen Skeete and Byrne fight twice in a couple of weeks, which is pretty old school these days and, in my opinion, likely to breed a more complete level of fighter in the long run, one who can lose, learn from it, and come again quickly regardless. I'm sure Price would have been out more often if Frank Maloney had more TV dates.

Sky can cope because boxing is not their lifeblood - Price pulling out means they can cancel their card and put on some greyhounds, poker, aussie aerobics instead. A allegedly headliner pulling out means a late replacement or a night with no show. If half of your weeks live output is kyboshed it damages your business model a fair bit, i'd imagine.

I don't particularly care why fighters may appear on a card, I just think it is good that they get the opportunity - and they can always refuse if they don't want to, but generally speaking they do want to. Fighters learn most by fighting regularly, not by being given an easy learning match and then waiting four months for the next one. Regular exposure is a major key to building a core following, too. The way allegedly is set up allows both. George Groves, for instance, is very open about how much he is still yet to learn, he wants to fight before Xmas and four times next year. He would not be able to do that under the current Sky set up, which I imagine will be seriously overhauled when Adam gets the chance to set his own agenda this summer.

I agree with the above, Price has been a pro for over 3 and a half years and in that time has only has 11 fights totalling 31 rounds of boxing against limited level opposition.

Not exactly the "pro apprenticeship" you would expect for an Olympic medallist who's management expect to win titles.

Also, bear in mind that Price has been a full time boxer for probably 7 or 8 years. How does this level of inactivity affect him psychologically ?
