Bomber sparring the cobra !

Post by jessi »

Mentioned on ringside last night, just wondered how it went ? Is there any footage of it ? And if your reading Tony, how do you think carl would get on at light heavy ?

I never heard about Froch getting sparked out. And I'd like to think I'd hear about it

I do know that Carl was impressed with Tony in sparring, he liked his jab and his attitude. My friend Adam watched a few chunks of it and afterwards said Tony was a really nice guy and that Carl wasn't lying when he thought Bomber had a very good chance at dethroning Clev.

And whilst his prediction never came true, I think everyone will agree that Bomber really did come close and surprised many many people who watched that title attempt. With a bit more conditioning / experience of the 12 rounders, in due course he could hang with a few of the champs.

Bellew seems to labour against people who don't get his juices flowing, but against a threat he upped his game a lot. He's got some nice shots and just needs to reinforce that engine.

Froch said Danny McIntoch would beat Cleverly and said the same about Bellew.

I heard the same rumour and that was that Bellew was 1 punch away from flooring Froch but held off. No shame in that though, Bellew is a weight above Froch and Froch is reknown for getting into wars. :TU:
Carl likes Cleverly. I've sat in his kitchen and watched Clev on Friday Night fights with him.

I know the Welsh / Calzaghe connection and all that nonsense might prejudice some, but I can assure you he likes Clev's approach and attitude. Just got he picked Bellew to do a number on Clev is his opinion of the fight, doesn't suddenly mean he don't like him.

It's a load of shite! Me and Carl had good sparring but no one got sparked! End of! He's a class act and is the best fighter in the country! It was an honor to share a ring with him! ;-)

Was size a big factor Tony? How do you think he'd manage the size difference at LH?

I heard knocked down rather than Ko'd..... but even if so; that's sparring. And if it's True Tony is bigger. Who knows. Sparring isn't boxing - there are loads more intangibles - fitness, weight, sharpness, concentration, working on a specific move....

Remember Spadafora (on top form) bashed up Mayweather (unfit) in sparring.... but let's be clear; in a match Floyd would school him

Froch vs Bellew would be a really good fight I think.

A lot of Carl's strengths would be taken away in this fight, he'd be no more than evens with his underrated jab - saying that Bomber's jab is underrated too.

For once I'd recommend Froch to put the heat on, whereas usually I'd say box, and slug as little as possible. Mainly because they're pretty evenly matched as boxers, but Froch isn't as bad as Tony is at slugging.
