Eubank Jnr - Great contender. Fury - Great pretender.

Post by MIG »

Chris Eubank Jnr looks like one to watch, yes he was fighting a punch bag but he showed all the good signs and has been sparring with some great fighters. I just hope his dad doesn't overshadow him every time he's on tv.

Fury was exposed, the ref stopped the fight to save C5's money maker AND the crowd - consisting mostly of Fury's family/friends - would've smashed up the place had he lost!! He seems like a nice fella out of the ring but come on - he's a bum!! Harrison would knock him out!!

I was a bit worried about Chris Sr being too big a presence, but Junior seems to have his head screwed on right & he does seem a decent prospect, even on his first pro outing.

I just hope they don't rush him too much.

As for Fury; hugely entertaining fighter, whose balls are so big that I'm surprised he can get his shorts on! :oo :DD

He will ensure that the appetite for boxing will grow in the UK, thanks to him being on Channel 5, but he is way too crude to make it beyond domestic level & although he has balls & a heart to match, he's going to need more than that from here onwards.

I thought Eubank looked great and the fact he's fighting 6 rounders already shows the faith Henessey has in him. He's the guy that gave Cleverley the "broken rib" and apparantly did extremely well with Groves. The guy he was fighting had a decent enough record for a pro debut and Jr dominated every second of every round. Looks the goods.

As for Fury I think you're being overly harsh. That was easily the worst performance I've seen from him and I've seen all his pro fights. No jab, no gameplan, looked disinterested and dropped. I don't know whether he's got mental issues at the moment - the recent interview was quite telling, whether he didn't gel with the new trainer or whatever, but he's so much better than last night's performance. Maybe he needs a bit of time off.
