I often wonder how and where the bbc get their info. The amount of innacuracies on both their website, and ceefax/text services is appalling - and if nothing else, just shows lazyness and lack of knowledge among their reporters.

We have BBC journalists among us, so I have to be careful what I say. But the BBC used to be a rock for people of a certain generation (myself included), and now it never ceases to amaze me how flimsy it has become. I, like millions others, winced when David Campese came on to deliver the BBC Team of the Year award to the English rugby team last month.
That was an all-time low.

Probably because Campese has been such a long standing critic of English rugby. He takes the pi55 at every possible turn.

I am sure that every member of that team would have preferred Campese to be at the bottom of a ruck rather then shaking their hands and presenting an award...

I think it is pretty piss poor that the BBC, which is after all paid for by enormous license fees of 2 Billion pounds, not to mention all the other money they make cannot even get their facts straight with regard to boxing.

They are the British Boxing Corporation. Before anyone mentions the fact that my own articles are occasionally sprinkled with mistakes, which they are, I would point out that I have to hold down a day job in addition. If I had a whole working day to write articles, there wouldn't be many mistakes at all, espcially with the access to a proper editor and proofreaders that are or should be available to a big corporation like the BBC.

I am dissapointed also, that the BBC website's coverage of the sport has no critical edge at all, it merely seems to blurt out whatever the latest press release about each fighter says.

Not very impressive, and yes, I do think I could make a better job of it, as could a number of people I know who are part-time journalists with a genuine interest and desire to promote boxing.

I realised the BBC website was a little bad when they previewed one of the African Cup of Nations football games, S.Africa v Benin, it had a photo and below it it said 'Mbuelo 'OJ' Mabizela the Benin captain.' Im a Tottenham supporter (he plays for them) and therefore know what OJ looks like, they had a photo of the wrong player, also Mabizela is actually the S. Africa captain not Benin.

The BBC make so many basic errors it's painful.

I didn't particularly enjoy reading on digital text on sunday morning that Arturo Gatti had won the vacant WBC light-heavyweight title. I mean, I know the lad can gain weight rapidly but that's just ridiculous.

Metro reporters must have been busy reading ceefex recently - they printed that story this morning!! Aparently its 90% done!

That's the danger of second hand journalism, I know I've been caught out once or twice in the past...
