Ron Lyle passes...

Post by Jon Saxon »

after a short stomach Illness the great old skool warrior has died suddenly.

Loved him in the 'Facing Ali' movie.
When asked how much Ali meant to the world he said "you think if he never existed you would be here talking to Ron Lyle?"

RIP Ron, thanks for the fights.

RIP... imagine if he were fighting today... his fights with Foreman and Frazier were two of the best heavyweight fights of all time.

R.I.P Ron Lyle

I only watched the Lyle - Foreman fight a few months back and though i knew the result because i knew how many losses Foreman had in his career, but i still felt that Lyle was going to knock him out !!!! That was a great fight and was just a pure slug fest for the time it lasted. There is certainly no Ron Lyles' around today in the boxing world and i don't think you will see a fight like the one with Foreman in the current heavyweight division. Pure drama, excitement, the lot..........

Thanks for the memories

Another great lost to our World of Boxing, Ron Lyle was a fearsome warrior in the ring and who can forget his epic bout with George Foreman.

A great brawler who many ducked.

Ken Norton in particular wanted nothing to do with him.

Lyle was a beast. Would easily waste the majority of men who have held a title these last 10, 15 years.

Ron Lyle was a world class heavyweight in the greatest era for heavies ever, which speaks for itself.
He deserved more than one crack at the world heavyweight title.
