Re: James J. Beattie
I read that on April-15- 1966
ABC-TV had aired a one hour news special on boxer
James J. Beattie called
"The Big Guy".

Has anyone seen this on video-tape?
Sounds like it may be an interesting document of the time.
I wonder what other and perhaps earlier
boxing"reality" shows may have been aired on the networks
that have been forgotten about over the years?

Re: James J. Beattie
In 1960 a young Cassius Clay had the Louisville Sponsoring Group that invested
in him.
which reportedly was the first athlete-corporation in sports.
In 1962 Jim Beattie answered a newspaper ad from a January 1962 edition of the New York Times for a group of NYC buisnessmen looking to invest in a future heavyweight prospect and perhaps world champion.
