Titles
Hey guys, just wondering how you guys rank in order the best title to have and why, IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO, IBO, cheers Leigh
Re: Titles
IBF No1
Being honest, I really think a champion makes the belt, Be it WBA, WBC, IBO, WBO etc.

Re: Titles
I think it's out of the WBC & the IBF which 1s the best & the WBO number 3, the WBA has slipped to 3 champs in 1 weight division is a joke as for the IBO it doesn't really count.
Re: Titles
I tend to swing toward IBF, albeit I ain't happy with elimination bouts to fill vacant #1 & #2 spots (all in aid of sanction $$). WBO close 2nd
WBC lost me with Silver (formerly Interim) title. WBA totally lost me with Interim, World & Super champ shite

Re: Titles
to me the IBF seems to have the setup right, eg - no interim, super, silver, diamond, unified, emeritus "champion".
they have a title eliminator then usually the champ and no. 1 contendor fight. seems a good set up to me. but im not so sure on the rankings process, surely there are more deserving people to be in a fight off for the MW crown than the lot that got thrown up.
the WBA is a joke, 3 champs in pretty much every div. MW being maybe the most laughable for me. sturn gets elevated to super champ, then golovkin gets to pick and chose defenses, as well as the interim champ njinkam(pls forgive spelling). i fail to see the point other than sanctioning fees, and every kid gets a prize. wbc is much the same.
wbo seems ok but u never know how they pick title fights.
ibo has good ethics but is obviously the weakest of that bunch
IMO

does wba also have "unified" champ?Da Voice wrote:I tend to swing toward IBF, albeit I ain't happy with elimination bouts to fill vacant #1 & #2 spots (all in aid of sanction $$). WBO close 2nd

also does anyone now know what happens to golovkin now that he has unified his title, but sturm is already the super champ, without an extra belt?
Re: Titles
My problem with IBF eliminators to fill #1 or #2 or both spots
Ranee Ganoy vs Fernando Angula (both at the time mid to low rated by IBF) - Lightweight eliminator to fill #2
Angula stopped Ganoy in 4th & got the rating, albeit he weighed-in 400 grams over the limit.

Re: Titles
At least we know where the mighty WBF sits on the totem pole! Only problem is which WBF is the lesser federation/foundation?

Re: Titles
Anyway the reason why the first break away 1 started & I think that was the WBC, was because the felt they favoured American fighters to much. That's what I say to MMA nuts, if MMA is getting as big as they say, it's only a matter of time till it happens there, the fact that there is so many titles just shows how big boxing is, maybe boxing is to big for it's own good.
Re: Titles
WBFoundation's owner, Mick Croucher has threatened every Oz promoter with legal action if they promote any of WBFederation's titles. IMO, he'd be wasting his coin, cos he bought World Boxing League & renamed it World Boxing Foundation.Beltane wrote:At least we know where the mighty WBF sits on the totem pole! His so called mates had every right to resuscitate Federation as much he he's pissed off.
He simply has to accept the fact he got conned for 20k

I think having numerous champs in each division takes away from a belts worth. I think there should be only one champ in each weight class for each sanctioning body
Re: Titles
I can still remember when Henry Cooper was stopped for challenging for the WBA heavyweight title because the BBBC decided it wanted nothing to do with the WBA after the WBC was formed. Henry resigned his British title in protest.
