Who has the Better Prospects - BBC or SKY?

It's interesting to look at which channel has the better prospects.

A prospect will be judged by someone who has the potential to win a Real World championship!

BBC PROSPECTS -

AUDLEY HARRISON - Olympic Gold Medalist
DAVID HAYE - World Silver Medalist
CARL FROCH - World Bronze Medalist

SKY -

Honestly, they don't have any! Don't even mention Kevin Mitchell or Matt Skelton, 2 over-hyped boxer's with no real ameater background!

Therefore, the BBC is the channel to follow in the future. Sure, Sky show's lots of boxing but in terms of real quality, they have NOTHING!

I think the BBC has the right attitude in only promoting REAL WORLD FIGHTS!

SKY IS GOOD BUT THE BBC IS THE REAL DEAL!

Sky don't have any boxer's that have the potential of David Haye, Audley and Carl Froch!

Infact WHO the F*CK has Sky ever brought us?

Remember, people like Joe Calzaghe came from ITV.

Also, people who say that the BBC have lost interest in boxing SHOULD SHUT THE fornicate UP! Stop spreading lie's. The BBC is 100% behind boxing and hope to go from strengh tp strength!

Sky have brought us a few names that have gone on to world championship level / titles - from the prospect stage

Scott Harrison, Michael Brodie, Paul Ingle, Glenn Cateley, Brian Magee, Spencer Oliver, Howard Eastman. To name but a few.

Perhaps your correct, but I can't remember Brodie being on ITV, Ingle on ITV, Cately on BBC - he's faught on the Beeb, but since, and especially Oliver on the BBC (only in the Amateurs).

Come on Nasty, don't knock Hatton too much. He is a quality fighter who puts on a great show and with his attitude and personality, he's one of the best things to happen to boxing for years.

BBC do have some good prospects, but lets not forget that they too have shown plenty of dodgy title fights. Didn't Robin Reid defend his WBF title several times on BBC?

If it wasn't for SKY, boxing would have all but disappeared from our screens. Sure, they show plenty of duff match ups but you can't have top fights every weekend, they just aren't enough of them.

I think the BBC has pretty good coverage, but its little things like skipping rounds and the time they broadcast that make it not so good. BBC do have outstanding prospects in Harrison, Haye, Froch etc. They also have the only domestic heavyweight fight we wanna see Harrison v Hide nuff said.

The only things wrong with the bbc coverage are the guy whose name I never bothered to learn that hosts the show and the awful commentary that treats us to these blundering phrases every single time: "Willie Yoppy" (whenever eastman fights), everytime a punch lands it "wasn't too far away" every time a punch misses "pretty solid looking right hand" (even if it was a left), and of course the timeless "Not unlike De La Hoya and Vargas a little while ago". Christ that guy makes me want to boot the telly in.

I can handle the fact that the beeb gives more time to things like figure skating which only two or three people can ever possibly be watching, I can handle having to be knackered to watch either too late or too early, but not those two.

Also, I keep missing the fights on BBC because I can't keep my eyes open, then the TV wakes up at 4am with the Open University.

Who cares if they fight on BBC or Sky ? A network isnt defined by who fights on them

I'm with that.

It doesn't matter if a fighter develops his career on Sky channel , BBC channel or the damn Adult channel. Its not the tv network that creates the fighter.

You cant say for example "What fighters have Sky ever given us"...Sky don't develop fighters...all Sky are interested in is entertaining viewers i.e pulling in the viewing ratings.

Most often, fighters have fought on many of the different tv networks, so you cannot say that they are a product of any one. I have fought both on ITV and Sky.

IS BBC BOXING IS FINISHED?

It is my understanding that the only reason the Beeb got back into boxing was Greg Dyke's interest and track record with the sport - he (apparently) started as a sports reporter and covered York Hall shows in the 70's.

Dyke has been forced out of the BBC, Audley has hardly been an unparallelled success and the biggest bouts to date (IMO) Williams-Sinal Sam, Walker-Karmazin have done nothing to bring glory to the Beeb stable.

Where that leaves the future of Terrestrial TV Boxing I don't know?
