busy Year For Matchroom

Post by xrgcx »

Just heard an interview with Eddie Hearn, he went through a list of his top fighters and gave dates and some opponents for them.

Froch - hearn said everything has been verbly agreed for a double fight with Lucain Bute. First Fight taking place in Canada in March and second at The city Ground in Nottingham in August.

Kell Brook - Announcment to be made on the 9th of January about opponent. Fight will take place in Sheffield. Opponent is one they have wanted for a while. Who coud it be? Malinaggi? Hatton?

Darren Barker - Was said to have been offered the fight with Chevez jnr but had to knock it back because of the notice or something. Hearn has offered Daniel Geale to come over to the UK to defend his IBF title Nothing set in stone for Barker.

Gavin Rees - was offered the Ricky Burns fight but not enough money in it for him. Looks like he's going to face his mandatory over in France.

Carl Frampton - defending his Commenwealth title against Kris Hughes then going be boxing again in March over in America

Paul McCloskey - Marcos Maidana was offered fight twice but wanted more money. Still nothing confirmed.

Aswell as Prizefighter, this could be a busy year.

Rees could fight in the UK. I think they making few new signings in January. Its not Malinaggi for Brook.

Also Anderson v Groves 2 is out to purse bids.

Yeah forgot to put Anderson on the list. What av heard is the Fight coulld well be in Edinburgh. Think Burns would have beaten Rees pretty comfy if they boxed. Who you think itl be for Brook then?

That's what I was thinking. Hatton is tough and will be in there for the 12rounds but Brook will win a wide UD.

Hatton makes a lot of sense as he is tough and will give Kell twelve hard rounds at a high pace ... it also, more than anything, gets him in the sports pages of the nationals which is crucial in terms of getting him the major fights that his team know he is ready for ...

Good fight for Kell. Be in the States though, no way would Eddie be able to afford Mosley on Sky's money. It'd be a matter of getting Mosley/American TV to accept Kell as an opponent. They might providing Kell/Eddie treated it as an investment fight and didn't ask for too big a purse. But if they get the chance they should take it IMO.

I'd stay focused on your own camp.
It would also help if you took your English GCSE again as well.

The interview was Steve Bunce's podcast for BBC London, available on the BBC website, well worth a listen, excellent show.

Brook is fighting in Sheffield so forget Paulie or Mosley, not enough dough on the table. Hatton is seen as a backward step (ironically by both camps).

It is almost certainly Ismael El Massoudi, the French based Morocan who knocked out Souleymane M'baye for his interim 147 WBA title. A better fight in terms of Hatton as a test, not perhaps as a lauch pad, even with said bauble attached. However it nudges Brook closer and closer to Senchenko, the weakest of the 147 champions. Getting him out of the Ukraine will be a huge challange though.

Plus Froch v Bute is not done yet. If Bute camp does not agree to a August/September re-match in Nottingham after the Montreal April date then it's off. Then it would be an easy touch in the Ice Arena in April (Andrade, Brinkley, Mendy) before Kessler in late summer.

...particularly excellent if you appreciate the finer arts of the allegedly propaganda machine. Bunce nearly creams himself repeatedly over the strength of the BN line up over the next 3 months (williams v mcphilbin, sauerland shows left right and centre, world ranked TBAs for britains only world champions to build them towards bigger fights. Yawn.) while repeatedly lauding the success of the channel to date. Independent broadcasting at it's best.

The level of bitterness which is often a common theme on this forum towards Bunce is at times a little sad.

Why not comment on the thread and drop your glib comments for 5 minutes?

All the decent sized UK promoters got a good airing on the show in question. He's no Saint and puts his foot in his mouth often enough so he should fit in here you'd think......
