Re: Region 8 Silver Gloves Results
Anybody See Brendon and Christian Torres' boxing matches, these two got ripped off, Brendon landing cleaner shots, Christian had Daniel Gonzalez beat, and you wont believe this, the score was 4 to 1 for Daniel, taking nothing away from these boxers they were good boxers, but the judging was crappy and of course in favor of California. Got both matches on video to prove that they were ripped off.

Are you saying that ALL the officials made sure only California won, in spite of the neutrality assignments? Hmmm.
Please remember that any video only shows one point of view and there are 5 judges around ringside so your video doesn't prove anything. However, feel free to file a grievance with USA Boxing and send the video as 'evidence.'Got both matches on video to prove that they were ripped off.
Sour grapes.

Re: Region 8 Silver Gloves Results
Most of the judges were from California, how many judges were from other states in that region. I see the above scores and Christian and he had only one judge in his favor, Daniel had four judges and if you watched the match he did a lot of backing up, lowering his head, missing punches. Not taking anything away from Daniel or his team, there good people and a good team.
Re: Region 8 Silver Gloves Results

Mainly because the other LBCs/states didn't send any.

I noticed you didn't quote how many California judges there were. Bring the tournament to Colorado for once!

Maybe all tournaments should post camera's around the ring all the time!

Please remember that we have 4 LBCs in California so we don't "know" the boxers from the other areas, unless there are State competitions (Silver Gloves and Golden Gloves). There was 1 official from Northern California LBC; none from the Central Assn., 1 from the Cal Border Assn. and 6 from Southern California.
All you need to do is ask Joe Zanders, the Region 8 coordinator, to move the tournament. And I'm not sure how bringing the tournament to Colorado would make a difference - we would still work on a neutrality assignment basis, i.e., there wouldn't be any more than two Colorado judges on a Colorado bout.

Besides being fairly prohibitive in cost and labor and time - how would this help? And how would it determine who won? It would take 5 officials individually judging each video - waste of time. Besides, you can't file a grievance on a judgement call.
To me, amateur boxing competitions mirror life - you don't win them all! What a great opportunity to teach our athletes good sportsmanship and how to fail successfully and move on rather than sour grapes and attitudes. Just my opinion.

Re: Region 8 Silver Gloves Results
Your going to defend this years results and results from prior years because your from California and results are settled, and your satisfied with those results because most of the kids going Nationals are from California, doesn't it bother all of you from California that people from the other states in region are complaining about the same thing I am, yes there are complaints, I don't know if people from California know that the complaints are being made or are all of you are just sitting back and chuckling about the fact that we're complaining and all of you don't care because the roster decisions are set and you all know that it takes an act of God to change the results. The fact that it is difficult to change the results, thats why the unfair judging.
Re: Region 8 Silver Gloves Results
I have been one of the biggest critics of Southern California judges,in particular, judging favoring SoCal boxers at theDesert Showdown and the State PAL/Adidas Tournament, but I must argue that judging at this years California Silver Gloves and the Region 8 tournaments was pretty fair.I saw most of the fights, not all.The one very very bad decision I saw was a kid from Sonnys Gym(Arizona) totally beat a kid from California but didn't get the decision. Most were right on the money from my perspective
Re: Region 8 Silver Gloves Results
Have any of those people from other states complained to Joe Zanders? He IS the Region 8 Coordinator. And I really don't see how you can blame California judges for the other states losses. There were never more than two California judges on any California boxer's bout. And, again, I say that the best way to even things out is to have officials from the other states there. Maybe that's something you need to bring up with your LBC's BOD.doesn't it bother all of you from California that people from the other states in region are complaining about the same thing I am, yes there are complaints,
Re: Region 8 Silver Gloves Results
Dont understand whats the problem theres 5 judges and there all from diferent states you ever here the term dont leave it in the judges hand thats what we tell our fighters
