fornicate it, let's just call him Calzaghe's next opponent. Anyone know anything about him.

Nothing first hand JM, but I did read a post by a guy called dubblechin ( can't recall where ) who generaly knows his stuff, and he'd just watched the Armenian flatten Freeman Barr. He said Mkrtchian looked a very good fighter, and would give Joe a big surprise.

Can't see that from his record though. He does look like a decent puncher though: an early fight against Sergey Karanevich saw him win in two rounds, and that's the only time Sergey has been stopped in 18 fights ( including a loss over here to the hard punching Chris Davies ). But maybe he suffers from the usual big puncher's weakness: a glass jaw.
Stopped in two by the unbeaten Denis Inkin...no idea how he got his high rating either.
Looks like Joe to win by early knockout.

Mger can only surprise. If he gives Calzaghe any trouble Ill be surprised. A good thing is that it will be shown here in scandinavia since Reidar Walstad & Samuel Kebede are on the undercard. It will only be the 2nd Calzaghe I can remember that has been shown here, 1st one was the McIntyre card from Copenhagen.

And that was another classic mismatch as well! Mger is only 27 so he should be reasonably fresh, he stopped recent Carl Froch victim Dmitry Adamovich in two a while ago and was stopped by 1-0 novice Denis Inkin while still learning the trade himself. His last few fights don't look so impressive though, despite stopping Freeman Barr he only beat another Froch victim Vage Kocharyan on a split decision back in 2002 and Kocharyan has beaten Mger's only conqueror Inkin already. Before Barr his opponent was making his debut and last time out his man had a losing record. Calzaghe looks too big of a step up for him.
