Khan has a lot of work to do in the gym with Freddie.. Peterson is going to charge at him right from the bell and look to keep things close..... my problem with khan is he cannot make adjustments during the fight he is wide open to the uppercut all night and can only fight at one pace. this will be close again unless khan sits on his punches and ko's petterson

I think they became obsessed with the thought that Khan was going to rush him like he did Salita (and Peterson) so they just surrendered the first few rounds. Trouble was they didn't make Khan use up his energy, so McCloskey then struggled to get into the fight it at all.

Would Kell Brook be getting the build-up he is without the possibility of a Khan-Brook fight? How many times had Eddie Hearn dropped Khan's name when talking about Brook since he signed him?

And that is before you look at the the Community centre he built in Bolton, all the charity stuff he does. Are his team money crazy, possibly, but nothing in comparison to Team Haye. What have they put back?

That doesn't mean you need to be his fan, but you should at least at some point think he is good for the sport. What was disappointing about your post was that you are not just some idiot who comes on here to do the sport down or slag people off. Hence, rather than just saying "hope he gets starfished" I hoped some people might see the bigger picture, which benefits everyone in the sport.

You consider that Khan's headlining grabbing ability is a good thing for boxing, it should be should it.

But when Khan and his team are falsely insinuating that boxing is corrupt from the top down and that everyone from the judges to the ref to sanctioning bodies all conspired to rob him of his title then actually it does boxing more harm in the long term then good.

You keep focusing on McCloskey, which is tiresome, its funny you state that its not about haters or nuthuggers and then refer to McCloskey as "my friend", but my mind was made up about Khan and team long before Dudey inked to face the Bolton boywonder. My dealings with Team Khan in the lead up to the McCloskey fight and their actions afterwards were only superfluous nails in an already airtight coffin.

I do think its a good fight, I thought the rematch should have been made from the get-go but not in the manner that Khan went about it and on the champions terms, Khan basically attempted to piss all over the best night of Peterson's career. My money would be on Khan to win the rematch but his carry from Harrisongate through to Petersongate and likely beyond will ensure that I feel a healthy dollop of Schadenfreude should Khan and his many bag carrying cronies leave LV emtpy-handed.

However, if the outcome is as I hope will the headlines end for Khan, will there be no more pay days, no more big fights, no more attention? I would say there will be, and for that reason alone that I feel your hypothesis is flawed.

Make no mistake, khan has to produce big-time in the rematch. Freddie needs to really earn his corn.

I forecast if he loses again, the trainer gets axed. Because the flaws won't have been fixed and he'll be the focus of their minds for their shortcomings.

Some really interesting points in this thread - and i totally agree with Gobbles about boxing NEEDING it's figureheads such as Khan is at the moment and Haye, Hatton, Calzaghe etc have been previously.

But i also agree with Slap to a degree in that i feel Amir's conduct at times is very unappealing. I completely agree that his childish, petulant reaction to losing a close decision to Peterson was a true embarrassment and many of his comments on Twitter and some of his interviews on TV have lead me to form the view that he is, basically, a twat.

That said, i thought he came across very well on Ringside last time with some genuine humility. I suspect the problem is one that is familiar to those well connected to the Sheffield scene and the whole Naz bandwagon - like Naz, Amir seems to be surrounded by people that tell him what he wants to hear, not what he needs to hear; people that want to be part of his entourage and benefit from his reflected glory, perhaps make a few quid from it too.

Perhaps Amir is seeing that and growing up now? Hope so.

Re; the fight itsef - i think Peterson had Khan worked out last time and unless Khan can make dramatic improvements on his in-fighting then i think LP wins again but this time more conclusively.

Has pacquiao confirmed the date of his next fight yet? Khan will need a dedicated training regime for this and wouldn't want Manny taking all of the focus for the camp
