Galahad v Booth Scores
Galahad v Booth Scores
Thought it strange at the time and it's still bugging me, hence the late post.
How the hell did Ian John-Lewis score Galahad v Booth 120-109, when Booth scored a perfectly good knockdown in the first round (and wasn't exactly getting dominated in that round either)? Now I realise this is far from a critical decision and Galahad more than deserved the decision but this is just incompetence. Was he not looking or did he just choose to completely ignore a clean knockdown? It's shit decision after shit decision for IJL, it's a good job Galahad dominated the fight because had it been the other way round it seems like the guy was already underway in assisting the home man.
Maybe he was just taking a (or the) piss.

I do get annoyed when this happens too. Unless a guy completely dominated the round before getting put down (ie had the guy almost knocked down himself) then I think a round should always be 10-8 to the guy who knocked the other one down.

Ian John Lewis has been the subject of many bad decisions.
Re: Galahad v Booth Scores
The 120-109 scorecard suggests he scored the first round even

Don't knockdowns and point deductions get taken off later, rather than specifically for the round as such? I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

Wont be the first time that scores have been announced incorrectly. ![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)
Knockdowns would be scored by judges, I think with WBC Supervisor would do point deductions for infringements like low blows etc

That's nothing. Those of use who were ringside saw some much dodgier scoring in the Lenny Daws v Chris Truman fight.
Truman won at least five rounds as he didn't allow Daws to work his jab and caught the Morden man with wide arching hooks seemingly at will, and yet the fight was given to Daws 79 - 75. Worst decision I've seen for a long time.

Thats a big call Andy after some of the shocking decisions we have seen lately. Its not an odd contentious decision anymore. We are now getting decisions that leave us dismayed.

It was up there. Mike Alexander is usually pretty good but he was way out here in the opinion of everyone on press row.

It was impossible for Galahad to have scored 120 if he had been knocked down & like you have said, he didn't get up & completely dominate Booth either.
It's just as well Galahad deserved to win clearly, otherwise there would have been hell to pay.
