I don't know what to think.

I heard that Sergio was four points ahead on two cards, while the fight was level on Julie Lederman's card.

That would mean that Lederman had him three points up going into the eleventh, which is poor judging in my opinion.

edit:it seems the sky pundits were incorrect

Lederman needs to get her eyes checked if she thinks that Macklin won the 8th.

i think that clears it up ian darke did say that macklin was ahead on two of the cards and level on one.

On those cards Macklin was level on 2 cards and up on the third after the 9th round. Not sure I agree with that but it`s still some effort against the worlds best middleweight.

Macklin ran out of gas for me, not throwing enough leather and the ones he did throw were missing and titing him out even more.

buddy mcgirt did the right thing macklin had nothing left and would been badly ko had he been allowed out for the 12th

I thought they should have given him the full break of a minute and then decided but Buddy, Brian Peter and Seamus Macklin all agreed to withdraw him, so you cant argue with that?

Even if he had recovered it was only heading one way,Martinez had figured him out and was hitting him at will, the right thing was done, and it may well have added years to Macklin's career. He lost to a great middleweight, no shame in that, and he can come again.

It was the right call - Macklin fell apart badly in the 11th, just seemed to hit the wall (and, more worryingly, Martinez's fists. Repeatedly.) In a way I was surprised that the referee let him go back to his corner, thought it could have been stopped at the end of the round given that the second knockdown was a brute and his head was flopping around like a caught fish!
