6 Man Round Robin Tournament

Post by jrc26 »

These fights are at heavyweight. Everyone fights everyone. What do you see their records coming out as and who comes out on top? 2 points for a KO and 1 for a decision win. The only reason I threw Haye in there is just pure curiosity if anyone gives him a chance against these guys.

1950 Ezzard Charles 184 lbs.
1985 Michael Spinks 200 lbs.
1994 Michael Moorer 214 lbs.
2003 Roy Jones 193 lbs.
2003 James Toney 217 lbs.
2009 David Haye (Assuming his toes all work  ) 217 lbs.

Spinks or Charles win this one. They would be each others biggest threat.

Charles is a clear favourite. I can’t see beyond him coming out top.

Spinks-Moorer-Haye would battle it out for second place.

Toney and Jones might spring an upset victory but I can’t see either of them more than one or two absolute max.

My sample size of Charles fights is limited to about five. So I ask if anyone thinks his size disadvantage would hurt him against anyone? I am trying to picture him in against Moorer. Are his skills so far superior that Moorer couldn't give him trouble?

Anyone have specific predictions about Jones and Spinks? I imagine that as one of the more awkward fights to happen. Spinks throwing punches from all angles might catch Roy for a KO. This fight would be pre Tarver 2 so Jones has not been mentally ruined yet.

...charles was at his heavyweight best at around 184 so i put him on top here. ezz was at his peak as a fighter was when he was at 175 which would have given him a disadvantage against the bigger heavyweights...he was an excellent infighter but the strength needed there would be too much.
