Nasser Al Harbi V Frankie Gavin

Post by safeerah »

Nasser will be fighting former Amatuer world champion and WBO intercontinental champion Frankie Gavin on 25th May 2012, both fighters are unbeaten, Nasser is fighting one of the best fighters around today and possibly the best Amatuer we have ever produced, Frankie is fighting a young unbeaten hungry fighter, both have great skill and speed, should be one for the purists.

We did not ask for a load of money for this fight, it just about Nasser wanting to fight the best out there at welter.

This fight is good for boxing. Respect for Nasser taking this fight. I think it will be a very technical fight. like a chess match.

Just to echo the sentiments already posted here in saying fair play for taking the fight Nas and Naj. I think a fight against ball, Portman or Muttley would have been good prep for this so hope your ain't bitten off a bit more than you can chew here boys. All respect to you though.

We got a venue for this yet Saf?

fair play to team al aharbi for taking this fight shows there intensions and confidence in nas. surely the winner will get a british title shot the only disappointing thing is its in wales and not brum. i fancy frankie to win on points but it will b a tough fight.

People might be writing off Nasser but it all depends how focused Frankie is. He does have a few up and downs like everyone else, however it does seem to effect him in the ring when things are not going his way.

Great match up think Frankie will win a wide points decision he looked like he was back to his best against Mcintyre last time out

At the end of the day what will happen, will happen on the day, in the ring, no matter what people say, remember Curtis Woodhouse ? everyone wrote him off big time, he rose to the challenge that day and nearly won, Nasser is very talented and has fought much bigger guys, Curtis was much the smaller man when he fought. Nasser does not expect to lose any fight, we are fighting Frankie on his own promoters show and excepted all conditions offered without question, Nas will be ready on the day, no doubt.

As bad as Frankie was against Woodhouse he still won comfortably don't no how it was scores as close as it was on the scorecards

Im 100% in agreement pal..I just applaud Nasser&Saf for taking this fight&they must be confident :TU:
I take back what ive said before about Al Harbi taking easy fights, win lose or draw i will respect him for taking the chance to risk his unbeaten record against a fighter&probably the best ever Amateur to come out the UK&a top pro prospect...
May the best man win :OhYes:

People who know Nasser well fancy him to get the victory, but more people know Frankie and what he has achieved, so it stands to reason that more will fancy a Gavin victory, Frankie has more to lose then Nasser and Nasser is only 22, so he has time on his side and more improvement to come. We have been trying to get fights at welter for some time without success, fair play to Frankie for taking on a young hungry unbeaten big welter, when he could have waited around for a british title shot without risk, I don't think Frankie has ever turned down anyone, but I bet a lot of fighters have turned him down.

A loss to Frankie is no big deal, anything more is a superb result.
Thanks guys, not Slapbang boxing Irishman who evidently thinks Newport is in Birmingham, bless his little cotton socks.

Spoke to Nasser today, he is looking light it up, sparring great with south paws at present, people much bigger then Frankie, also with some fast guys, it is about showing the country what he is about, hitting harder everyday, getting stronger eveyday, no funny business just a straight fair fight, then lets see who the better man is. No pressure on Nas, but Frankie has it all to lose. Nasser will be the biggest welter he has faced and someone who can match him for speed as well, also Nasser has the skills to give him problems, warming up to be a good fight.
