Channel 5 coverage

C5 need to sort out their timings, that is 2 out of the five shows that have been cut off short if you sky+ it. Luckily I suspected Galahad and Eubank would go long so I manual recorded it. However, we slag off Premier and allegedly for continually doing this.... 5 are no better.

Apparently it was a stinker of a fight. Think Lynes will retire.

They showed some of it. Lynes looked slow, Witter did look in very good shape.

I was caught out once before with C5 so when I recorded last night I got it to run 20 minutes over. Virgin Media give you the option to do that if it is a live event.

Yeh they showed the last 3 rounds of Witter vs Lynes.... and that was more than enough! To be fair to Lynes, he has been in some decent fights when he fights more orthodox fighters. Witter on the other hand has no such excuses.

I like that Eubank is being matched so strongly. I have no interest in seeing his batter a 5-34-2 fighter.

Yes mate - significantly the instruction to match him tough is coming from Channel 5. I think it'll do him good and he's capable. He doesn't seem to give a monkey's about the other man's offence, mind.

I think everyone likes the fact Eubank is getting matched hard however he is an accident waiting to happen.

I know :o He'll learn.

Seriously, I wish SKY would take the same stance, I'm sick of complete mis-matches like the ones on the Bellew undercard. People defend them saying they are learning fights, but I bet Eubank learned a lot more last night.

In fairness, Fury has pretty much always been matched really strongly. It's refreshing to see Hennessy take that stance.

Im not complaining but be interesting to see what happens with Five boxing if Fury loses cos like Eubank he is an accident waiting to happen aswell. I think Hennessey gets a bad rap sometimes, he isnt the worst promoter out there he just got it terribly wrong with the PR for froch which I think he has learned from which is showing with Fury.

If there was a quick 5 min introduction and then the 1st fight boxers entrances it would allow them to show a lot more boxing during the course of the show.

Other than that, it was good. The very fact its on terrestrial TV is a massively plus so hard to be too negative :TU:
I thought I already covered that, you must have missed that bit.

Crazy to think that Witter is still about and fighting at a decent level. His style was often hard to watch even at his peak and now he his older and not as sharp on the old reflexes it's bloody difficult to stomach.

This is why Fury is being mached in low risk fights and why he threw his belts down and ran away when Price was made his mandatory.

Well, allow me to retort

Weirdly, because he's not as sharp or as powerful (I'd say) any more, he realises he has to be a bit more aggressive/up tempo. In a way, he's slightly better to watch now.

I'll get me coat... 8)

Was pretty annoying missing the end of the show due to the timings. First one I'd recorded as opposed to watching all the way through live so lesson learnt!

But then the best thing about young Witter was the possibility of a one punch knock down, out of the blue, from a funny angle, after luring the other fighter in

Being slightly more aggressive doesn't make up for losing this. Especially when it doesn't come natural to him and causes him to look messy.

I agree that it was a good match for this stage of his career.

However, he wasn't in with a world beater - before Saturday his opponent had 18 fights and had only won 3 of his previous 9.
