scotlands star of the future

Post by Tonylindie »

Great performance from Ronnie the shark Clark last night at gorbals Glasgow as he stopped unbeaten Tommy Edwards in 1 round with some great body shots, ronnie turning into a real class act. Definetly a star in the future, well done son

I was at the fight was a shame it was the first fight. Both fighters came out to fight and it was all action while it last. Ronnie was on devastating form he is such an exciting fighter. Any promoters should get him on there shows will keep the fans happy. Hope he can stay active one of the most exciting fighters coming through.

Think that's a bit unfair on Tommy Edwards there Billy. I'm sure he was favourite going into the fight and had already beat youseff al hamidi, I think Ronnie limited what he could do and was just too strong.

Ronnie is still learning and hes taking fights on 5 days notice this time against an unbeaten fighter and as billy knows 2 days against another unbeaten fighter. Cant wait to see him at super featherweight as hes strong for lightweight. Also well done to michael roberts gutted i couldnt watch the fight but heard he was excellent. Michael Roberts should be due to step up 8 unbeaten but where does he go from here . Whats your plans for him billy?

Im not trying to take anything away from Ronnie but Edwards was brought up as an opponent for a two fight novice!
All im saying is see what Ronnie can do at a higher level, thats when to judge him

sounds a good idea but most of these guys are starting out to be Pro's and wouldn't go in to that style of tournament like that it would serve them no good Most are just out the Am's and have had enough of 3x3 rounds they must look a head for bigger titles but my guess your looking to make money ronnie so good luck but theres no way the Scottish fight fans would go to this most fans would not know them yet and with no tv were would the prize money come from

Well smashing... MONEY??? I would fight in that 8 man if it was to happen for free, just to prove I am the best! I don't mean to sound arrogant but I will not fight to get beat! Not today... Not tomorrow... Not any day! :D

Well Ronnie if you just want to fight and not get payed I'm sure all the Promoters will be very happy to have you on there bills with any off these guys if it could happen and I'm also sure there not in it to get beat but will all want payed that's why they turned Pro and your doing OK for now 3 ko's out of 5 so why would other Promoters what take that chance on a young prospects guys like hatton got built up the right way but you what to be the best right now call out guys in the top ten light weights that's were your ranked

1 Ricky Burns
2 Kevin Mitchell
3 Gavin Rees
4 Derry Mathews
5 John Murray
6 Anthony Crolla
7 Ben Murphy
8 Willie Limond
9 Carl Johanneson
10 Tommy Coyle
11 Chris Goodwin
12 Stephen Jennings
13 Kevin Hooper

I ain't called out anyone? :s I said I would do that 8 man for free because it would suit me 3 rounds in someone's face :) hmmm...
SMASHING... Don't u like me or something, if not I have a plan ;) "you worry bout u and I will worry bout me" :)
And why would I challenge anyone in the lightweight division I only fight at this weight to be active as not being matched at superfeather weight yet... :)

Dont understand smashing statement I think you have got confused somewhere. Ronnie always keeps himself in shape and ready to take fights on short notice just to stay active. He wants to prove himself just like anyone to be honest except hes willing to do it the hard way. What cant be mistaken is most of these prospects have had more fights than him and are fighting at weights that suit them.

Sorry Ronnie if you think I'm trying to judge you or dislike you that was never my intention fair play to you if this could go a head but i know there is a lot more to setting up fights than just saying i would fight anyone and you must be rated in the light weights because of the weight you've weighed in at in all your fights a few pounds over lightweight limit in most of your fights ...To Answer JamieM the other guys might have better managers and promoters and can put there boxers on far more shows

So chill out guys peace and love :DDD :DDD

Scotland has a lot of up and coming boxers, a lot mentioned above.

Matthew McAllister
Gary Cornish
Iain Butcher have all made good starts to their careers.

Guys like Micheal Roberts, Jon Slowey and Eddie Doyle need to take the next step in their careers.

I would like to see Roberts in with someone like Mickey Convery who has had more wins than all of Roberts Previous opponents. Micheal would win but he wouldn't have things all his own way. World Class sparring have defo made Micheal a better boxer and Nelson has him boxing well. Good future ahead.

Jon slowey is a slick, quick southpaw who lacks power but rarely misses with a punch. As well as Roberts, Jon has had world class sparring and will improve as the level of opponents get better. A fight with Robbie Turley would be good fight.

Eddie Doyle who win the British masters title should have been looking to box someone like Michael Grant or Nicki Smedley but instead boxed lightweight Al Hamidi. I like Doyle, skilfulful boxer but doesn't really pack a punch. Hope he takes a step up.

Not really saw much of Ronnie Clark, but I do admire his attitude towards boxing, box anyone anywhere, if only it was as simple as that. Good luck in the future Ronnie.

xrgcx my list had 24 names you picked 4 plus big Gary i forgot about him sorry Gary if you read this  i agree with your post about stepping up levels but no need to rush them we need to build on the back of Ricky burns success so these guys can box on big shows in Scotland and we need cheaper public shows the other night was a great night but £45 was a bit stiff if they had a 10 card bill more ticket sales and if all the boxers done 50 tickets that should cover all costs

Any feed back on other boys from the list
Thanks for input

Totally forgot about Big Simmons, he's one for the future. Having the right fights and won't be too far away from a title shot. Would have in with any of the Cruisers in the uk and he would hold his own.

Someone I forgot to mention and you SMASHING was Stevie Weir, very good boxer who if fit should make Welter.

Shouridi is good also. Some of the guys you have on your list aint that good mate, Ally Black, Gareth Stemp, Gary Collins, John McCallum, these guys won't do much

Haha Billy win it easily? I doubt that very much. There is a good fight to make then I'm sure Alex Morrison is looking for an opponent for Ronnie for the show early June. I think Michael is a good prospect this would be a good fight that Ronnie would deffo take. So Billy if Michael wins easy I'm sure it will be easy to make maybe over 6 x 3??

Billy will always believe his fighter will win. I think michael is a great fighter and a good talent but really could not see him staying away from ronnie for very long. Thats opinions for you though right or wrong:) This match wont happen as its too dangerous for michael i believe:)
