I read Eubanks' book years ago and I think he said he turned down the idea of a fight with Roberto Duran because they were both past their best and it would therefore be disrespectful.

It would probably a bit like that Gladiator thing Eubank did with Benn a few years ago. Benn seemed to take it seriously but Eubank seemed under prepared and confused. If memory serves, he got roughed up and lost quite badly.

Yes I think he would, having father and son fighting on the same Hennessey bill would get huge backing, don't think it would last for a long time though, once it's apparent that Eubank sr is not the force of old.

The trouble with this 'masters boxing' idea is that you have ageining, past their best, and not neccessarily very fit men hitting one another in earnest. It's a crap idea.

I think that Eubank Sr. is just finding it hard watching his son getting the limelight which used to be his, but I doubt he will be foolish enough to get back in the ring, and doubt he would be able to get motivated to train properly. This is just a load of old cobblers.

It's a crap idea if you put it on television.

It's a crap idea even if not. It's asking for trouble to have old inactive fighters laying into one another. The trouble is, that highly trained fighters even at an advanced age, know how to punch with serious power, against older opponents, that could lead to a fatality or serious injury.

In addition, some old boxers are going to be much better physically than others due to lifestyle, genetics etc.

Boxing is a young man's game, the exceptions, by their rarity, like Foreman and Hopkins, just prove how much this is the case.

I think he and Benn should do it. There could be a fly-on-the-wall style series of three documentaries, with them meeting up and talking about everything they have bee through and then it could culminate in a fight.

No way would I want to see Benn in the ring again - his last fight against Collins, his balance and reflexes were clearly gone, in my opinion, Nigel left a large part of himself behind him in the ring against McClellan - although he won, he sustained a lot of punishment to do so. There is no way Benn would have anything to do it either - since he became a born against christian, he has made his disdain for boxing and everything associated with it clear.

You cant take the fight out of a fighter he will still consider a comeback in another 10 years. I think he was on the slide when he met calzaghe so i cant see the point of him coming back now and i'd bet my house he wont. Unless he wanted to do a world tour type deal fighting push overs. Just to give people the chance to go and get the old buzz and spectactle of watching Eubank fight.
