I heard last night that it was definatley a fight announcment and not a retirement announcment.
Attached to the rumour was that the fight was going to coincide with the opening of the new Perth Arena.

My 'contact' has been a little hit and miss in the past though....

I hope its a retirement type fight, as I think Danny is finished at the very top level. Especially at Cruiser these younger stronger guys will do him damage! And I cant see him cutting to light-heavy now!?!

Straight off the top of my head would be Daniel Ammann for the Australian Cruiser title it would be a nice way to finish a great career as an Aussie Champ, if Ammann gets past McCracken that is!

Add in a strong co-main bout and I think its doable! Yes Ammann is no world beater but Green doesnt need to prove himself against the youngest and strongest at his weight.

I think it will be either a rematch with Wlodarczyk or retirement (to focus on promoting).

Pointless fight IMO, he should stop this guy inside 6! This fight tells me hes looking for a win, and a chance to setup a International bout for a World title or decent $$$ be interesting to see what weight they fight at! If your going to fight Santiago you may as well fight Ammann who's pretty much on the same level as Santiago and have a shot at at least becomming aussie Cruiser champ in your last fight on Aussie soil, that at least drags some emotion into it perhaps?? I know a National Title probably doesnt mean to much to Green right now, but its a nice way to finish a Career on home soil for sentimental value!!

I think we are looking at Mundine v Green 2 in the not too distant future. They will both probably have fairly comfortable wins next up and then find the rematch is too good to refuse.

Isn't Choc trying to get down to featherweight to fight Billy Dib?

Tell you what I do think though. Reckon Choc having a fight in the US is just something he's ticking off his bucket list. Win or lose against McKart I doubt he'll fight there again. More likely come back and fight Green. That's where the money is.

This is not a PPV worthy main event, but as we have been inflicted by the dross that Boxa masquades as PPV, so this will probably be a PPV'er. But in the past, Green does have more than decent PPV undercards.

As for Danny Santiago, aka the Bronx Bomber, he should be easy meat for Danny as he is: no spring chicken at 39 years; has been stopped in 3 of his last 5 bouts; he is relatively inactive, having these 5 bouts over a 5 and 1/2 year period and 4 1/2 years ago was stopped in 4 by Antonio Tarver (where as Danny lasted into the 9th round against Antonio).

No doubt a big money Mundine rematch is over the horizon, as we all know that Mundine will not persevere with his USA career move, once he is expected to step up against top quality pugs.

There's been some disgraceful PPVs in recent times. Headed by Sonny Bill Williams last joke fight. I suppose if you are dumb enough to pay you deserve to be ripped off.

I for one am pretty happy with this and another chance to go along to a GMP in Perth. The fight itself should be a W for Green but Santiago cant be underestimated.
I was impressed with the honesty of Greeny, and very surprised by the honesty of Hyder at the press conferencein relation to Mundine. If it happens,it happens, if it doesnt then they move on at maybe a fight overseas....I think this fight is a done deal.
Will be interesting to see what the weight limit is set at for this bout. Green was talking around 84kg, I was under impression it was to be at light heavy ??

I am of the understanding that it will be at a catchweight of 84kg's and the fight after would be at 79kgs. They don't want to strip weight off too quickly.

Yeah, this is the right fight back, PPV probably not, but a very stacked undercard would fix that.

You can't expect anything other than this after his last 3 fights.

I bought tickets to the fight, and it is good to see that they have been priced relatively well. $98 for premium reserved. For his fight against Wlodarczyk I paid closer to $200 for the privledge.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the card, but in the past GMP have put on great shows.
