The current points system which we utilise was devised by myself and regardless of what you think of it, there is no doubting that it has served its purpose. Initally when came up with the points system I suggested it as a stop-gap to bring structure to the rankings, and the trial-run was decided for weeks 01-10. And now we have come to the end of that and it's up to you all to decide what we are going to use next.
As of now: There are 5 suggestions:
A modified version of the current rankings: (adding it a -1 point stipulation for a loss to a CPU fighter, as suggested by Hog)
BoxBuzz's titleBout rankings on his computer: (which it must be noted, still favours the Heavyweights)
OR, alternaitvely, we could use the system that I devised for the end of the Heavyweight season:
WINNING fighters go up
LOSING fighters go down
DRAWING fighters mostly stay in the same position
It's nothing more complicated than that.
And the 2 other ideas as can be seen below:
The ranking structure: (Weeks 11-20)
Re: The ranking structure: (Weeks 11-20)
Jbacca's idea: (which critics might say is too-overcomplicated)
win - 5
draw - 2 - 1pt for equal rating, 2 for +1, 3 for +2.
loss - 0
ko - 6
ud - 5
md - 4
sd - 3
dq - go by scorecards, 1pt if losing, pts assigned as above for other results.
every rating +1 = 3pts
same rating = 1pt
rating -3 = -1
rating -4 = -2
rating -5 = -3
-6 = -4
-7 = -5
-8 = -6
-9 = -7
-10 = -8
pts difference
25-35 = 3 (1 if draw)
36-45 = 5 (2)
46-55 = 7 (3)
56-65 = 10 (4)
66-75 = 15 (5)
76-85 = 20 (6)
and so on
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if lose
+1 = 1
+2 = 2
+3 = 3
+4 = 4
-1 = -2
-2 = -3
-3 = -4
-4 = -5
so forth
KO = -2
ud = -1
dq whilst ud = 1
Can easily be amended to what you see fit. I.e. changing points for diff in rating to diff in rankings.

Re: The ranking structure: (Weeks 11-20)
And Mr Detroit's idea:
Set the CPU opponents into tiers: Beat a fighter from Group A you get 3 points, Group B 2 pts, Group C 1, and if you lose then you are subtracted the opposite, Group A you lose 1 point, Group B 2, Grop C 3. Then if a fighter starts off with a loss to Butterbean he goes into the negative 3 pts.
The human controlled part could remain the same until we have rankings, then give 3 points for beating a top 10 fighter, 2 points 11-20, 1 pt. 21-unranked. Maybe factor in extra points for knockouts, or one point for a draw or something.
--------------------------------------------
Detroit's idea is based on around dividing up the fighter pool to various different categories based on how good they are.

Re: The ranking structure: (Weeks 11-20)
My idea weren't complicated but it just took a while for me to work shit out. If someone can do formulas in Excel then you'll have the best rankings available.
Re: The ranking structure: (Weeks 11-20)
What about relying on ol' BoxBuzz's subjective yet dispassionate edicts and assessments?
Re: The ranking structure: (Weeks 11-20)
Positional
Re: The ranking structure: (Weeks 11-20)
Personally I would be quite happy to stick with the current points system... But I do like the positional structure.
For the poll, I'm going with the current points system.

Re: The ranking structure: (Weeks 11-20)
The current points system is being favoured at the moment... Have your say gents, should we change the rankings structure after the results for this week?
Don't forget to vote in the poll.

Without sounding condescending, I am sure that yoiu do, mate. Just as I am sure that Jai is in favour of his own system. But as always, lets see the Sim public decide.DetroitHxC wrote:I still like my suggestion.
At the moment, the current ranlking system (with the points tallys) is ahead and that is the system I will be sticking with for the dpdated Week 11 rankings.
