BOX-NATION - Nearly a year on

Was just thinking after alot of Huffing and puffing from most when this channel was launched
now that its been on the go for nearly a year now what are peoples feelings on it

Its not the finished article and production may not be as classy as Sky but there have been loads of goods fights delivered ( which of course is expected from a boxing channel)

Added that Mayweather was on it and David HAyes next fight i think over the year its been pretty good value for money

and with Sky dropping some off the main players Like Hatton and Maloney
if these guys get on board then there could be some good boxers showcasing on it.

Do you think F.Warren saw this coming and this is why he went with this Venture?

Anyone any idea of how many approx Subscribers there currently are?

I've seen more boxing since it started than I ever did before, it isn't perfect, far from it, but for what I pay for it I'm more than happy with what I've gotten for my money so far.

for a wannabee boxing nerd such as myself its the best value tenner I spend every month.

Good at the start. Then steady for a few months. Pretty poor since the Chisora/Haye was announced. Picking up again now though. Overall a pretty steady C. Could have been so much better but not bad. I agree with the comments above about weigh-ins. I dont see why the night before a fight they dont put a show on for free previewing the card with press conference and weigh in footage.

There have been lots of old fights shown recently - Hide, Robinson, Scott Harrison, Eubank etc.

The presentation, while a little rough round the edges, is far more enjoyable that the sterile Sky format. HD would be the icing on the cake.

I'v only just got it in the last 3 weeks, don't get much of a chance to watch it but what i have watched has been Great.. My Nephew Boxed on it Sunday in a Am Box Cup, he loves it think's it's the BEST CHANELL EVER

I too have an overwhelming desire to see this, please. I've found out it was on ESPN in 2001, which would make Johnson about 137 years old (I was at school when he knocked out Poison Junior Jones for the bantamweight title, FFS!), but I'm fvcked if can dig up a link... Paul Williams was on the card, apparently.

Always had a soft spot for JMJ, for some bizarre reason, & it would be nice to see him decapitate Augie.

I'd be lost without it, its got its faults and possibly could have a midweek news show but for its live content you really cant fault it

I didn't subscribe when there was a minimum term of six months and as a result i've missed many good fights,
but i'm led to believe this has stopped and you can just join month to month.

when you consider £10 p/m is a lot less than you'd pay for many 1-off PPV bouts, it's pretty good value for money, considering some of the fights they've had

I'm no big fan of FW and that to me is the only negative point about the channel.

The production maybe a little cheaper but the presenters/commentators dont seem to have an agenda like a lot of the sky lot lately (not really the ex boxers).

Also a big positive is showing more of the undercard compared to Sky.

And now that Sky is basically just the Eddie Hearn show, if allegedly were to start showing more of other promoters shows it would absolutely piss on Sky imo.

I've not got it. I've not missed a fight I wanted to see. Sometimes when I see the schedule I think, damn, how have I resisted so long. Then I see Bunce or FW on one of the free to air shows and think, 'oh yes, that was it'.

And, given that it's a subscription channel entirely devoted to one sport, it probably should!

There is very little boxing on channel 5, BBC or ITV; the Sky Sports is now aligned to Eddie Hearn, which may turn out to be a good thing for Barney Francis and Eddie Hearn but a bot so good thing for boxing fans. allegedly is what it is and does pretty much what it advertises it will do. There're some good bouts this season and I'd like to see some of them. I'd be happier if they were on BBC HD but will have to make do with paying out for Sky Sports and allegedly; (it could be worse).

But a subs-only channel ensuring you pay for everything you watch (and ensuring the general public won't) is hardly good for the longeivity of the sport, is it?

Fair point, me too. I've whored myself to every boxing PPV for years but drew the line at a recurring cost. The trouble is, now that I've seen how easy it is to follow boxing without being constantly leg-humped by the same people who have leg-humped me over tickets/late cancellations in the past, I'm increasingly tempted to cancel the bloody lot.

A mate of mine goes bird watching and has been a few times with Bill Oddy; apparentley Bill always manages to spot some very rare bird that no one else has seen, it drives my mate mad.

Grudge paying it but its worth it, last 3 years i watched all my fights in Romanian or polish with a remote satellite dish the advantge there is u watch an make ur own mind on whos winning not Jim Watts but this channel for a 10er a month saves me time i still use my dish but not as much.

I've just subscribed, the extra £10 joining fee starts on the 7th to stop people joining last minute and crashing the subscription system again.
