Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
Adamek is fighting James Tony in September, so a Adamek fight in October isnt going to happen!?!?!

I think they've reached the crossroads.
Hennessey has a dilemma. Fury is the reason Channel 5 are keeping the faith, with the back up of young Barry.
Does Mick keep serving up opponents for Fury to knock over, or push him on against very competitive opponents and risk a defeat ?
The PR machine is in full flow as this talk of Adamek proves, but the pure boxing fans can't be fooled.

They have definitely reached the crossroads. Some mates who are casual fans were posing the question "why does Fury always fight bums" on Saturday.twenty six wrote:I think they've reached the crossroads.

The problem is, he's young so it's fair enough to bring him along slowly, but at the same time you cannot be giving it the big one talking about Klitchko's etc. It works once or twice, but when it's every Fury fight people will just start asking when is it ACTUALLY going to happen.
He's either ready or he's not. Hennessey shouldn't be saying he's not ready but talk about the K2 in the same sentence, it doesn't make sense.

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
For what it's worth, I noticed a thread on a popular social networking site started by a footie fan friend of mine: "Is this guy Fury's fighting any good or is it just another journey man [sic]"
To be honest I'm slightly surprised he even knows who Fury is, so it illustrates that the Ch 5 exposure is working on some level. But yes, even the public are cottoning on to the Fury v Tomato Can formula.

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
Thing is, Adamek would be a hell of a lot more expensive to bring over than the likes of Maddalone
Not sure whether it would make sense for Five to spend the extra money getting someone in who may well be rated much higher, but is still unknown to the majority of their viewers. Especially one who will look so small compared to Fury

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
I'd be surprised if the Toney fight came off, it's months away and he's already being criticised for it.
So if that's the sole reason for a potential Fury fight not happening, I don't see any problems.

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
As long as Hennessy keeps the ratings up for Channel 5 they'll be happy regardless who he fights. He should line up an Ibragimov/Guinn or someone in that mould in Sept/Oct who is a decent level heavy who he will get rounds against but who won't have the punch to overly worry him. Get Audley on the undercard, stage a confrontation between the two on the night and have them fight in December. Big ratings and not the hardest route, then up the competition in the new year.

I'm sure they could find someone better than Maddalone though. I mean some of the guys in the last Prizefighter would have been better even.

Wrote this in another thread. Seems more appropriate here.
Fury's problem is the same as Price's. How the hell do you match these guys?
Heavyweight just has a bunch of recycled 'contenders' hanging around like a bad smell hoping for a callup for a payday with a Klitschko. They won't fight anyone else. Someone mentioned Shane Cameron, Kevin Johnson, and someone else. But why would they want the fight? Maybe with the increased exposure for Hennessey he could find the money to get Fury a fight with this level of competitor, who will demand money.
But what about Price? Has Maloney got the same level of resources?
Then there are journeymen. They'll fight, for varying degrees of money, but varying degrees of usefulness. Who's in between? Euro level? How do you get a euro title callup vs Pulev? Won't he be waiting on a Klitschko too? Why would euro-level guys like Dimitrenko risk fighting Price?
Noone wants to fight, there's no real way of building a fighter in HW. It's depressing.
Fury is young so he can fight tough journeymen for a while. But it kind of makes no sense, since he has already beaten Chisora, to take a step back.
Price however needs to get a move on!
I really feel for the promoters as there just aren't a lot of options out there. It doesn't help that both these guys will be competing for meaningful opponents at this stage.

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
I would be happy if Fury fought a top 15 rated heavy who was not small in heavyweight terms.
Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
Spiker, there aren't that many good heavyweights in the top 15 who are particularly big.
There is Helenius, Pulev and thats about it..... If you class Dimetrenko and Ustinov as 1) good and 2) top 15 then you could add these.
Adamek I think proved himself as a top 4 Heavyweight with his win over Chambers.

Fury is out in November I saw it in tweet earlier today.

Ok in truth Helenius would be a good test.stujones wrote:Spiker, there aren't that many good heavyweights in the top 15 who are particularly big.

In fairness if he did beat him I would have more faith in team Fury but they are picking the shortest possible opponents unless its my imagination?

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
Why does this matter? This is the heavyweight division. Fury being a giant is an anomaly. If Mike Tyson was still around, would you complain he was too small to face Fury?Spiker wrote:I would be happy if Fury fought a top 15 rated heavy who was not small in heavyweight terms.
Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
According to BoxRec Nascimento is 6' 5", Chisora is 6' 1.5", Firtha is 6' 6", Pajkic is 6' 3", Rogan is 6' 3" & Maddalone is 6' 2".Spiker wrote:Ok in truth Helenius would be a good test.

His last 6 opponents have not been particularly short. Fury is 6' 9" he is going to look bigger than just about everyone he faces, it doesn't mean he is fighting midgets.

they were saying Fury might be out til november
why ?

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
The only way Fury fights Adamek, is if he goes over to Newark to fight him.
I really hope someone decent fights Fury to shut him up. I am sick of him. He mouthed off about David Price when Price was 1-0 and now he never talks about him and vacated his British title to avoid him.

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
The whole Fury traveller's circus is fooling nobody. I have friends who couldn't name five boxers, and they associate Tyson Fury with bum fights. How can you con people with a parade of balding 40 year old fatties? The ref is there to award Fury the 'stoppage' at the earliest opportunity. The commentators are in on the act, Al Bernstein referring to Maddalone going the distance with Mormeck and Boytsov whilst studiously avoiding any reference to his one sided ass kickings at the hands of Brian Minto, a 40 year old Al Cole, and a 45 year old Evander Holyfield. Then Mick Hennessy waddles over to make his sweaty, deranged proclamations about Fury being ready for a Klitschko despite never apparently being ready to fight anyone in the top 10, or even David Price who is a 30 year old, 13 fight novice.
Bring on Mike Perez, David Price, Solis, Povetkin, Pulev, Helenius, or Areolla. Otherwise, please, just fornicate off.

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
He should fight Audley Harrison or Ustinov both easily marketable for C5 - we all know Usinov is crap but the guy is nearly 6'8 undefeated with 27-0 with 21 ko's the general public will lap that up.brian13 wrote:The only way Fury fights Adamek, is if he goes over to Newark to fight him.

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
Fury fought and beat Chisora easily and Chisora is now arguably a top 10 ranked fighter ( He's ranked in the top 10 on the forum rankings: http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=154256 ). So Fury is capable of beating good fighters, so let's not pretend that his career is a massive con job.loaded_gloves wrote:The whole Fury traveller's circus is fooling nobody. Fury's opposition at this stage of his career is reasonable and his opposition early in his career was very good for a novice. Only one of his opponents has been 40 or over and that was Rogan. Also David Price is 29, not 30.
Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
Because he won meaningless fight and all of sudden wants next best name.Who already has fight booked and will not be available. He just showin off, that he can fight well known names, but most certainly he will be fighting another past prime heavyweight, with no marketabillity.

Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
The 260+ ring rusty Dereck Chisora was not a world class fighter in that condition and still he wobbled Fury how many times? Wake up. Fury was in the right place at the right time and will be living off that fight for a while yet it seems.
Re: Why does Fury think Adamek is a possibility for October?????
Which heavyweights have been beating better opposition than Fury has over the last year?
This is my rough ranking of the top heavyweights' wins over the last 12 months:
1. Vitali - Adamek & Chisora
2. Povetkin - Chagaev, Boswell & Huck
3. Wladimir - Mormeck & Thompson
4. Helenius - Liakhovich & Chisora
5. Adamek - Aguilera & Chambers
6. Pulev - Pedyura, Walker, Sprott & Dimitrenko
7. Fury - Chisora, Firtha, Pajkic, Rogan & Maddalone
8. Mitchell - Ferreyro, Ibragimov & Witherspoon
9. Price - McDermott & Sexton
10. Pianeta - Hawkins, Page & McCall
Have I got that wrong?
