Good on them so much for not that many fighters are on it.... boxing needs to accept that PED cheats are operating widely within the sport and work together to tackle it head on. Make the fighters aware it's not acceptable for a start.

While it's commendable, I fear that it is an easy decision because it is 'only' Ali Adams. Were it a bigger name, from a bigger promotional group, I don't doubt that the usual "we'll stick by our man, it was a dodgy test, he wouldn't hurt a fly" type comments will come out.

While it's commendable, I fear that it is an easy decision because it is 'only' Ali Adams. Were it a bigger name, from a bigger promotional group, I don't doubt that the usual "we'll stick by our man, it was a dodgy test, he wouldn't hurt a fly" type comments will come out.

We do not feel it is "only" Ali Adams and feel that is inappropriate for you to say that is the case. What we are saying is that we do not condone any illegal substances in any boxer. Ali has been nieve but I wouldnt care who it was or how big we as a promotional outfit we become are or how big the boxer is we would have the same view. I really like Ali as a person but he has made a mistake and will face the consequences.

I bet the promoter can't believe his luck - this has given him a legally legitimate reason to off-load a dud.

No thats not true. We would have stuck by Ali and rebuilt him. Boxers are not pieces of meat that should be "offloaded". They should be supported when they are down and we would have supported Ali.

He would have fought on our September 15th show and we had major sponsors for him on the back of the profile he received for the Harrison fight.

However this will not happen now.

this is just getting worse, its such a minefield.

Steve are you sure that This is straight up doping, i think that much more specification is needed into what could be ingested in a cold inhaler for example, or perhaps if someone is asthmatic for instance and they take some medication for this, to then lose your livelihood over something so innocent is a dreadful scenario.

Ali has allowed a banned substance into his body (it is not an inhaler). He tells me he thought it was a painkiller when in fact is was something much more sinister.

I am not judge and jury the drugs agency decides what ban he gets.

I believe he was nieve but the point is that any boxer who allows a banned substance to be put into his body will be banned.

We have issued a statement clearly stating our position on banned substances.

I reiterate I really like Ali as a person.

Steve, i like your stance and hopefully other's would do the same.
It really is getting beyond a joke nowadays with drugs in our sport, its not as if Adams was ever going to be a world beater with or without PED's. He and Larry are both intelligent men, so is it that they thought that drug testing wouldn't happen at the level they were boxing at?

I know its probably something you do not want to answer publically, but would you work with / promote Ali ever again... for example if Ali is given a 6 month-1 year ban. Would you promote him once he has done his time?
