If David Haye loses saturday will his credibility be ruined?

Post by lefty »

If Haye was to lose to Chisora how badly would his legacy be tarnished? He would of lost to a guy who was beaten by Tyson Fury at british level and in the build up to this fight he's been making a big deal of saying Chisora is a bum basically. Im actually one of the few who thinks Chisora could pull this off but if actually did pull it off how would people see Haye as fighter?

Depends how he looses. A heavy beating then definetly but a tight points decision not so much.

No. Chisora's a decent fighter with a really horrible style for Haye.

Chisora may be 0-3 in his last 3. But if you know boxing, then your would know the Chisora (in shape) that fought Vitali & Big Helen would of flattened Fury that night, Big Helen he beat, and Vitali was the best effort against him in years. Hence Chisora is still getting the fights. If he was shite he would not be anywhere near the likes of Haye & Vitali. Helen was Chisora's redemption fight and he took it with both hands. Fair play to him.

I think it will personally. Beating Helenius (morally) for me doesn't necassarily prove that you are World class. Also I disagree with the notion Chisora gave Vitali his hardest fight. As a boxer to a degree I do respect Chisora but don't think he is World class, whereas I think Haye is. I also think Chisora is a nob end who beats up women, spits in peoples faces, bites in the ring etc. The worst you can accuse Haye of is hyping himself before the biggest fight of his life and losing, having already proven to be a World class Cruiserweight, and smacking someone when they got up in his face.

I really will be distraught if Haye doesn't win by stoppage.

History will show that Haye lost his last two fights before retiring 'if' Chisora manages the win and show that Haye can't really compete at World Level in the Heavyweight division. However, I don't think it will damage his legacy as we all ready know that he isn't the best heavyweight of his generation. Cruiserweight, yes. Although, David was still beaten by Thompson there.

Haye needs to win this fight if he wants the current non-boxing fans, mainly here in Britian, to remember him as a winner. Otherwise, he will continually be remember for 'Toegate' and basically being a charlatan.

In saying that, I'm going for a points victory for Chisora at odds of 6-1.

Haye will come out the same way he has for his last couple of fights, very cagey. Chisora, will come forward and pressure David. I see Haye working at a distance, using his speed and winning the early rounds with Chisora coming on strong late on, as he did against both Helenius and Vitali, for a victory on the cards. I am slightly swayed now because of the 10 round announcement instead of 12(joke) but I believe that David Haye will not knockout Dereck Chisora, 100%.

It was Vitali. As for all this "he would have flattened Fury" shit, how? He is not a puncher, not as good a boxer, Fury has come on in his conditioning since then and Chisora's stupid games just wont work with Fury. In fact, he was too scared to even try them against Fury. He was schooled in his home town but now would flatten him because of a couple of hounorable defeats against injured men! Chisora is crap, Sexton was about his limit and even he gave him all he could handle, especially in the first fight. Del should think himself lucky he has become this well known and got this payday on the off the back of his bad behaviour. Haye will barely take a punch. I will watch, as i am betting on Haye, but no serious fan should be shelling out for tickets. The undercard is dire. Really, really bad.

I will have to say yes it will ruin Hayes creditability amongst people who havent really followed his career but in fairness its ruined with them anyway. A loss against chisora would be very bad and would give a lot of credence to the people who say he isnt a genuine heavy weight. However i dont think his cruiser weight acheivements and world title at HW can be taken away from him.

I was disappointed by his performance against wlad but i didnt lose faith in him until he "retired" which to me just sent a statement to boxing fans especially his own fans that he was only in it for the money. Now he has decided to put it right or has shown he never really lost the desire to give the klits a proper shot and make sure he leaves it in the ring this time, that speaks volumes imo. For that even if he loses i would still see him as a champion for previous career accomplishments, theres no shame in finding out that you are out of your league as long as you give it your all; thats what boxing is about.

Both fighters have a massive amount to gain from winning this in style - if haye puts on a show like he has in the past and stops chisora the nay sayers are going to get a head check and he will gain a massive amount of respect. I would then personally either fight vitali before he retires or fight povetkin then wlad.

Del was clearly over weight and out of shape in the Fury fight, it's not an excuse it's fact. Wlad had just pulled out on him twice late into training camps and he'd lost some focus. He's looked a different fighter since (and before) the Fury fight

Del boy seemed intimidated by Fury.

Fury beat him convincingly. It wasn't a close fight so I can't see how people can be so confident Cisora would "flatten him" if he came in to fight lighter. As mentioned above Del Boy is not a banger and Tyson is far more active and has more in his locker.

If they fight again I would put my house on Fury winning.

Yes I know who he fought. Feck knows why I repeatedly typed Wlad though :o

I stick to what I said. If Chisora was in the shape he should of been in that night, and on the form that fought Vitali & Helen that night, IMO, would of put Fury on his arse, aka flattened. Be serious ffs, Fury at that point got put on his arse by Pajkic. Chisora has proved himself in that bracket between Euro & World level. Fury is still fighting men off the street.

Saying that, Fury does seem to have come on, but really, how can we measure, when he has dropped a his level of opposition?

I am not Del Boys biggest fan, in fact I hope Haye sparks him somehow. I just ain't buying the Fury hype when he has done feck all but beat an out of shape Chisora, and continues to hide from Price.

As i have now posted about four times on different threads, an out of shape Fury clearly beat an out of shape Chisora. People need to have a look at Fury's condition that night compared to what he looks like now.

It will completely ruin Haye's credibility. Chisora is a British level fighter who is prepared to go around Europe picking up a paycheck against better quality opposition. Similar to Matt Skelton in his view of boxing.

Haye needs to win inside and impressively

x 2 People say chisora was out of shape, but look at furys conditioning now plus furys boxing has improved, cant see there being a different result from the first fight in a rematch.

The sheer size of Vitali gave Del problems, same applies to fury.
Tomorrow night he fights a guy similar in size and youve got to say if haye does do a job on him ( which I think he will) he will show himself to be elite.
Haye froze against klit when he felt his strength. Fury is just to raw imo. ramble over lol

I think it will be ruined just because he's seen to be above guys like Chisora. But I don't think he'll care. He'll just ride off into the sunset, back into retirement with his wad of money, IMO. Haye isn't about legacy, if he was he'll be looking to continue in the division. To be fair to him he did try to get Vitali, but the fight fell through and he said he wasn't interested in fighting anyone else.

I really wish he cared about sticking around in the division and trying to be the top guy in a post-Klitschko world. As it stands, his career record just looks a bit thin to me. He's had what, 23 fights or something in total? Noone is going to remember Haye as an all-time great. Isn't that what he used to talk about aspiring to?

Having said all this, with the money he's earned from a few of his heavyweight fights, it's easy to see why he's decided to call it a day.

Exactly. He's never really taken a beating in a fight either so why drag it out to take a hiding
