Whats happened to Chunky?
Does anyone know whats happened to James Degale?
Seems to have gone off the radar since his last fight. Has he officially split from Warren?

Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
I'm guessing he's going to be making a good living doing apperances and interviews etc over the next month with the Olympics.
As for when he's actually fighting next, no idea

Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
Was offered ibf eliminator against Stevensson but cos of his problems with allegedly it was hard to make.
Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
Also got offered a fight with Stieglitz after Groves pulled out, but chose to fight Sanavia a week or 2 later
Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
Yeah true he turned down the Stieglitz fight as it was so close to the Sanavia fight which was booked and he trained so long for a southpaw.diggler wrote:Also got offered a fight with Stieglitz after Groves pulled out, but chose to fight Sanavia a week or 2 later
Have not been able to see his last two fights but I still think he is a talented boxer just needs to have the right attitude. Really didn't like the way he handles his loss to Groves
Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
The last time he was seen, was in the stands at Haye v Chisora. I assume he'd bought his own £50 seat.
Whilst Groves sat at ringside.

I believe he is waiting out his contract with Warren. Rumours are Sauerland want to sign him, although I'm sure anyone would want to.
In meantime, he can only fight when there is an EBU purse bid. Next up is another Italian.
Similar situation to Johnny Nelson was in when Warren refused to promote him.

Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
Can't say I'm not glad. Came across a right bell-end. He had no charisma at all, just a flash rude boy. Which are ten a penny in any town center. Really glad Groves beat him. I don't mind a bit of tension before a fight, but he had no class, right 'orrible ba*stard. Like one of those kids you see outside an off licence at 2 am with their mobile phone music playing load. The epitome of everything I can't stand today.

Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
DeGale has handled the situation badly IMO FW has publicly backed him all the way ever since he signed for him.Even when he lost against George FW pinned his colours to DeGales mast.
No matter what the problem was, money, no Sky, no Groves rematch (yet)he should have kept it in house if possible if not see a solicitor but should never have gone public. He would have got well promoted under FW now he wasting in limbo

I think the problem was no fights. He trained 2-3 times for fights, only for Warren to cancel the whole bill. He also didn't go public, he has never spoken about it.

He publicly released a statement through his solicitors saying he was splitting from Warren ( not exact wording)gobbles wrote:Final round wrote:DeGale has handled the situation badly IMO FW has publicly backed him all the way ever since he signed for him.Even when he lost against George FW pinned his colours to DeGales mast.

He had a contract until 2013 even if fights were falling through which must be frustrating he would have fought more than he is doing now?
Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
Would he have? In reality, he boxed in April, he wouldn't have boxed much earlier on a Warren show, and he certainly wouldn't have boxed since, because Warren hasn't staged any big shows apart from Upton Park, which none of his bigger names would fight on for obvious reasons.Final round wrote:He publicly released a statement through his solicitors saying he was splitting from Warren ( not exact wording)gobbles wrote:Final round wrote:DeGale has handled the situation badly IMO FW has publicly backed him all the way ever since he signed for him.Even when he lost against George FW pinned his colours to DeGales mast.

The main difference is that he would probably have boxed at the Albert Hall, and had all the connected publicity, rather then the north of Denmark.

I heard there was about 150,000 problems.

Fair point do you think FW will make the Groves rematch this year?gobbles wrote: Would he have? There should be some news on this very soon. Don't think DeGale will be a FW fighter by the end of next week.

Bunny was due to appear before the Stewards of the Board to face two complaints. The first by Chunky represented by Ian Mills Q.C. which should have been heard on the 17th. July. The second by Tony Bellew which should jave been heard on the 18th. July.
However, Bunny requested and was granted an adjourment of the Tony Bellew hearing until 2nd August. I am not aware of what happened to the James DeGale hearing.
It would however, be wrong to pre-judge the outcome of those hearings and everyone will have to simply wait and see.
By the way, for the benefit of any mods lacking bottle. The foregoing is NOT a state secret, nor is it defamatory. It is a tenant of British Justice that, Justice should not only be done, it should be seen to be done.
Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
On the face of it, FW gives him a multi £ million deal.
Over the next 3 years he takes him to 10-0 with some well matched fights on some high profile televised bills.
Delivers the Groves fight.
Even after losing this fight, his next fight is for the European title.
Not bad management or promotion (obviously I don't know any issues that there may be behind the scenes - eg. possibly actual payment of money owed !).

Re: Whats happened to Chunky?
IMO my opinion all cotractual problems are caused by boxers signing contracts that are not board contracts but are private contracts between the promotor and or his limited company and the boxer and in reality the board has no juristriction over these so called contracts which are private contracts thats why solicitors etc become involved and then the boxer finds himself in limbo while solicitors sort it out and charge fees whilst doing sobripez wrote:On the face of it, FW gives him a multi £ million deal.
