including the 12 round under a lot of boards rules including the unified World title rules. I'v just been wondering tho, at what point is a fighter considered to be knocked down in this extreme situation.
If a fighter is say way ahead on the scorecard with 10 seconds left but is hanging on and taking a load of shots that stun him, and he takes one massive shot that sends him over, but the bell rings say a second before his glove touches the ground what does the ref do? Start counting or say no the fighter didn't touch down before the bell rung? Are there any instances of this happening in a World title fight?
Fighters can't be saved by the bell in any round....

im led to believe a boxer cannot be saved by the bell apart from the bell ending the final round!

Considering the premise of fighting was till the death & rounds are part of safety and limiting risk. I think final bell should be ok to save them but I think it should cause immediate rematch clause.

Perhaps in some countries (wouldn't suprise me if it was the case with the BBBoC rules) but certainly the unified rules (so all the 'big 4' World titles and any unifications thereof) state a fighter can't be saved by the bell in any round including the 12th and final round. Like I say for some reason I haven't ever thought about it until recently despite having been a boxing fan for as long as I have been, and remembering some fights such as Froch v Taylor and Bute v Andrade 1 I suddenly thought well what would the ref do if a fighter was on the way down but didn't hit the deck until after the bell rang, would he count or say no the fight was over before he touched down.rhino222 wrote:im led to believe a boxer cannot be saved by the bell apart from the bell ending the final round!
