Would you be suprised...
If they make Martinez a champion in recess... or upgarde him to Prince of Arabia, Diamond Jubilee WBC Middleweight champion again and make their beloved Chavez XXXXXL mandatory challenger for the WBC regular title again?
What I don't get is, Martinez won the WBC title ligitemetly in the ring vs Pavlik and defended it against Williams. If the 'Diamond' title is an upgrade... then why fight Chavez for the 'downgraded' regular title? None of this shite makes sense!

It doesn't make sense in why wouldn't they fight for the Diamond title, if it really was the top one?The Dark Destroyer wrote:It does make some sense. If the Diamond is an upgrade and the regular WBC is just the regular WBC then at some point you would expect the two to fight, similar to a Interim championship, except that Martinez never left the weight for another fight or was never out for a long period where he couldn't defend his title.dondada wrote:danconnollyeire wrote:None of this shite makes sense!

The WBC are saying that the Diamond belt is an upgrade purely to try and compensate for the fact that Martinez got shafted of his title.

It's all to do for their bumlove for Chavez family. If it was a legit title (the Diamond one) wouldn't they have it in most weight divisons? The Dark Destroyer wrote:I was joking. I was pointing out that Martinez hasn't done any of the things that traditionally might make an organisation create an interim title, which is essentially what they did.danconnollyeire wrote: It doesn't make sense in why wouldn't they fight for the Diamond title, if it really was the top one?

If that was the sole case surely they would do it at every weight class... I do agree with you... but I also think is the bumlove love, Suilaman has been grooming young Chavez XXXXXXXXL from an early age!spudder56 wrote:

Re: Would you be suprised...
You may have a point about the favouritism shown but Julio Snr has more than 1 boxing son; if so many favours were being done regardless of skill, dedication and talent then Omar Chavez would be a champion too, no?
Re: Would you be suprised...
I agree with your post Dan - it's all a WBC love-in when it comes to Jose Sulaiman's godson.

They can give Chavez Jr as many WBC belts as they want, but they can't make him the best in the world.

Re: Would you be suprised...
In this sport very few things surprise me, and this is something that won't. But the fact was he got shown up by a guy 12 years his senior, three inches shorter and with far superior atheltic ability and boxing brain than he possesses or may even possess in his whole damn career. If Martinez can pot shot his way to a 12 round decision despite having a late scare, then what the hell is someone like Gennady Golovkin and Peter Quillin going to do to him.danconnollyeire wrote:If they make Martinez a champion in recess... or upgarde him to Prince of Arabia, Diamond Jubilee WBC Middleweight champion again and make their beloved Chavez XXXXXL mandatory challenger for the WBC regular title again?
