He does have a penchant for being the bigger man in there, he likes the lighter guys to come up to him. With that all aside he does need to have a name and make a bit of an impact so it seems like this fight would do that for him. Katsidis is still quite quick so he still needs to watch out though.

You have to say Burns' performances post Katsidis suggest that maybe the Aussie isn't quite a worn as we originally suggested - certainly still has the power.

A Ricky at 70% peak should have too much for Katisidis, but one thing is for certain. Hatton will need to throw many punches and need to be super fit - cause Katsidis will stick to him all night. Just think of how Burns' shots just bounced of Katsidis.

I agree he usually had a good few lb's on his opponents in the ring, but I can't agree with you when you say "he likes the lighter guys to come up to him". While he was world champion at 140 the only guy you could class as a 'lighter guy' moving up was Castillo, but there was no way he was ever making 135 again anyway. The rest of the time he fought guys that had been at 140 for years and were reining 140lb champions, either that or he was at 147 fighting for titles....

There's no doubt that Katsidis is vulnerable at lightweight, I'd be surprised if he was to fight at Welterweight, he'd be quick, but I think his power is a little bit over-rated. Wouldn't have been an ideal opponent for a Hatton comeback, but a safe(ish) choice. Hatton can back opponents up nicely, this would be the way to dishearten Katsidis. I'd worry about the later rounds, Rick will know what shape he's in, but I'd hope he didn't get too eager early on.

It'd be a good fight, it would be telling anyway.

Katsidis sounds perfect. A typical Hatton opponent. Has seen his best days and considerably lighter.

Good choice , an established international name over here although more dangerous at a lighter weight and has seen better days his entertaining all-action swarming brawler ala Hatton should make for a good scrap while it lasts.
Katsidis last great performance imo was against Marquez and on the downhill ever since but who knows how bad Ricky has slid

I know. It's a terrible affliction.

I do think "Fearless" Freddie is worth a mega-thread, meself. I shall see if I can get one going in BOTP, though I fear the sage greybeards therein will look askance at something that's not to do with Harry Greb.

If this fight happens they better have two facial surgeons on standby, with the way both fighters cut up.

Would be fun to watch, no-one can doubt that. Katsidis is strong as an ox at 135, I wonder if he could carry that up the weights.

Maybe you could try it in the current scene? But then he would probably be called a bum for not beating Pernall Whitaker? I think here might be the best place for it. Definitely worthy of a mega thread by the way
