To be fair, he's beaten a lot of guys, more than once.

This guy has a weird record. He's only fought a handful of different opponents, but fought them several times each. Are there not many pro's at his weight in S. America? This guy would be a typical Sports Network opponet, good record on paper but no one knows anything about him. I guess Bomber is just pleased to be getting an outing on a big card.

They do it quite a lot in South America, apparently, in order to build up guys' records so that they come to Europe or the US with credentials like... Well, 30-1.Newport Daz wrote:This guy has a weird record. He's only fought a handful of different opponents, but fought them several times each. Are there not many pro's at his weight in S. America? It's bullshit, most of it's fabrication or at least deliberate exaggeration of one's abilities; there's a Brazilian cruiserweight, can't remember the name, something like 29-0 (27). He's fought a load of numpties, but a cursory glance at his record makes you think "Ooh, at least he can punch! Look at all those KOs!"
Then, like our Argie friend here, you notice that he's fought the same five or six blokes multiple times, one after another, & then you look at the records of the lads this Brazilian cruiser's beaten & realise that their records are all built on... Opponents of the same bloke. So there are a dozen blokes fighting (almost exclusively) novices or each other, & then every five or six months they get fed to the boy the promoter's trying to build up for a payday.
There's an Argie kiddie called eul (I think) posts over on Current Scene, PM him & get him to explain it to you, he's the one who explained it to me. It's like the ringers thing in Buttfuck Idaho with Verdell Smith or whoever fighting under six different names to inflate a useless guy's record until it's buff enough for him to get a TV payday.
Almost fraud, imo. Like those Latvians Bob Mee wrote about, building up their "record" fighting in gyms then coming over to get pasted

But its not a Sports Network show, is it? It is a chief support to a poor main event on a Matchroom show live on Sky.Newport Daz wrote:This guy has a weird record. Its a poor chief support ,to a poor main event , that i expect in turn to be a poor undercard too , so wish this wasnt in my home city , it will be tough to refrain from going to boxing happening within 4 miles of my home , would rather be going to see Mcphilbin in Liverpool but unfortunately im skint til a few days later so cant afford it

It seems like Matchroom have moved from the traditional Mexican Roadsweepers to the "rugged and dangerous" Argentinians who pad their records against bums at home and only ever leave the country to lose!!

Is this the start of all our fears with Sky getting in a monopoly situation with a Promotor ?

yeah, but exactly the same as what we do over here but at a lower level. We get those over to build our fighters up to over and fight eliete fighters when theyre damned well stupidly overmatched.
How many of our lads get to 20-0 without fighting anyone of note....
Just done at a lower level.
Re: Bellew returns...
Sometimes though, it's down to complete lack of pro records.
I remember when Torres fought Cotto, people kept asking - how come he's fought so many debutants and novices? It's because at that particular time, the records just didn't exist. If you check his record now, you'll see that a lot of of the 0-0-0 guys now have records, albeit some of them are clearly padders.
Whatever happened to him anyway? Seemed to die a death after that bizarre rematch with Holt.

I admit there's shameless padding going on over here, but I maintain--from what I've heard from people who live there & go watch these fights--more than a few of these lads' records (especially in Argentina, get that eul kiddy to explain about how the two rival gangs influence boxing) are composed of ringers, not just 90-10 matches but actual honest-to-fvck ringers.
I am in no way condoning the British/American practice of feeding a prospect twenty poor fvckers two divisions/a decade past their sell-by date, not at all, it's wrong & undermines the sport of boxing (& is intrinsically intertwined with its showbizzy/"sports entertainment" business practices, imo) I'm just saying that what goes on over there would make your toes curl compared to what happens here.
Proper gangster shit.
PS: I am regretting for the first time the deletion of teh Current Scene. Amongst the dreck that eul fella I keep going on about explained how Luis Lazarte's "backers" had rigged things for that fight he had against the Filipino that ended in a riot, including allegations that Lazarte's people had dudes in the crowd to start stuff if it looked like their boy was gonna get a hiding. It was bloody shocking, & I now regret that the Current Scene baby's been thrown out of with the metaphorical bathwater...

oh, shit, yeah, eye-opening stuff.
fvck Lazarte. Pongsaklek made him his b1tch, what, 25 years ago? meh.

Serious question - how many of the cards broadcast by Sky during the 2 years of having 4 promoters were better than this?twenty six wrote:Is this the start of all our fears with Sky getting in a monopoly situation with a Promotor ?

Cheers dude!
That's the mofo!
Dodgy as fvck. But he might be Acelino Freitas on Growth Hormone, who knows? Google video turns up not one televised fight, despite all the lovely titles...
Although I have found out that his manager held umpteen stupid titles as well, & was ranked in the top five by the WBO! Before getting done in a round last year by Zaurbek Baysangurov, that is...
