Who is picking Abelyan to beat Harrison?

Post by The REAL McCoy »

"William Abelyan will be licking his lips at the prospect of fighting Scott Harrison now" said Barry McGuigan on Saturday night

As we know, Abelyan is a quality fighter who is young, & in his prime at the age of 25, he is also a pure boxer, a southpaw at that & ranked in the worlds top 10

He also sounds supremely confident in defeating Harrison when they meet(probably sometime in the summer)

William has slagged Scott off, saying Harrison fights like a robot, & is going to get KO'd

This is a very good fight, & no one should write Abelyan off because he was stopped in a round against Victor Polo at the start of his career

Jameel McCline, Oscar larios, Charles Brewer, John Ruiz, Julio Diaz & Tokumbo Olajide have all been stopped in the 1st round at the start of their careers, 3 of these fighters have went on to become World champions

Abelyan hasnt lost in 4 years, & holds wins over Orlando Salido & Guty Espadas

So its definitely a great match up on paper, who is your pick to win the fight?

McCoy thinks Harrison wins on points, then in 18 months when Haji hits his peak he puts Marquez to sleep, afterwards everyone will be calling him Marquezzzzzz

Then Scott will make Pacquiao his bitch, & for ever more Manny will be known as Mrs Pacman

Oh by the way before El McCoy verdadero forgets, theres a groovy link from an interview with Abelyan on Boxing monthly just before he pulled out

Yes, this is a good fight - I would like a good look at the Abeleyan character before making a prediction. Its a tough one to call.

Stu, my main gripe about Scott is the sparring he gets before his fights

For instance, before his rematch with Medina, Scott was sparring with novice pro Haider Ali & Willie Limond

Even in the build up to the Estrada fight Scott was sparring with Steve Conway & once again Willie Limond

I wish Scott would go to the States to get world class sparring, like Alex Arthur is doing at the moment, sparring with guys like Nate Campbell, & hoping to spar with Erik Morales in the near future

Haven't seen Abelyan but his record aint bad, and he's a rangy southpaw like Estrada, but supposed to be alot better. It will be a tough fight, thats all i can say really.
