Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
Who do you think it should be ?
Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
I know it's a strange mix, but heffron and arnie fancy there chances already, Curtis put up a great performance last time against gavin and I know would go up to 10st 7lb if he got the chance for a British title, bundu is European champion and not the biggest banger, Matthew Hatton and Denton Vassell are obvious choices, and the winner of Purdy v jones ( even the looser if it's a close fight ) could prove another step up in class for Frankie !

It's hard to call. I think Hatton would be a step too far just now. Heffron is nowhere near ready, but Pury or Vassell would be ideal. If(or when as may be the case) Purdy loses to Jones it could be the next step.

I'd say vassel

How would Hattonbe "a step to far". People are judging Frankie harshly on a performance against Junior Wittter for god's sake. He was only ever going to make Frank look bad.ShadrachSimmo wrote:It's hard to call. I think Hatton would be a step too far just now. I'm not solely basing my opinion on last nights performance I just feel Hatton is a very underrated fighter and would be in with a very good chance. It would be a good fight, it should happen eventually.mickey1975 wrote:How would Hattonbe "a step to far". People are judging Frankie harshly on a performance against Junior Wittter for god's sake. Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
last nights fight was awful and one of the worst fights i have watched in ages
frankie fun time is over rated and will not go beyond british level
hope that is the end of witter, being able to dance around in round twelve and not throw any big punches when behind on the score cards ( total rubbish), calling out hatton, he is more off the wall than audley
time to quit and find a new job

Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
I think Gavin needs a few more learning fights. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Gavin vs Colin Lynes, if Colin hasn't retired.
Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
I agree, whilst he needs to be moved relatively quickly, Kell Brook is younger, he doesn't seem ready to move up a level yet.stujones wrote:I think Gavin needs a few more learning fights. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Gavin vs Colin Lynes, if Colin hasn't retired.
I still think he should be a light welter too.
Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
Kell has had more than double the fights Frankie has had.
In Frankies 14th fight, he won the British title against Junior Witter.
Brooks 14th fight was an 8 rounder against Karl David 20-7-1.
Brooks first scalp of the level of Witter was probably Michael Jennings, who wasn't Witters level but you know what I mean. That was fight number 22 for Brook.
I'm not knocking Kell by any means, but lets not get too excited about age differences between two guys in their mid twenties.

If he's going to make strides then I want to see him at Light Welter.

Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
Surely Witter's a classier fighter than Hatton. Hatton is not a powerful puncher and doesn't possess Gavin's skills. He would have to try to spoil the fight and it won't work!ShadrachSimmo wrote: I'm not solely basing my opinion on last nights performance I just feel Hatton is a very underrated fighter and would be in with a very good chance. I'm sure Frankie made it clear he really struggles to make 140, I could be wrongtwenty six wrote:If he's going to make strides then I want to see him at Light Welter.

Stuggles, or isn't prepared to do what's needed ?
I think he could do LW.

Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
in all fairness he looked slightly gaunt before the weigh-in on ifilm London IMO, honestly believe his at 147 to stay and looked much bigger than witter.twenty six wrote:Stuggles, or isn't prepared to do what's needed ?

Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
I've seen better, but I've watched it again since, might be the only one in the uk to do soplymouthskinhead wrote:So it was a crap fight then?
Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
IMO whatever he does he needs to stay active and have at least 6-8 fights over the next year or 2.
Re: Who next for Frankie Gavin ?
Can see it being Heffron after the interviews, easy to make and easy defence in my opinion.
