I think we need not get too excited about Gavin just yet. Last year his career was in the toilet and he's come back to beat up a washed up Witter (Sorry Twenty Six). He now needs to stay active and win a few more meaningful fights before I, personally, believe that he's got a future as a world champion. But I hope he does go on to have a great career.

Fair play to frankie, he started of slow but did what he had to do in what was always gonna be a stinker stylistically.
Witter has got to be the most frustrating fighter ever, he's obviously got the talent and the fitness still, but he spends half his time switching stance and holding/turning his back to his opponent.

A boxing career that doesn't end with World Domination is viewed as a failure; it's crazy. There was so much hope and hype about Frankie after the amateur World Championship Gold that many imagined that sheer boxing talent would take him easily to the top of the pro ranks. From his interviews and posts he comes across as a really down to earth and decent man; he is a skilled boxer and s not the genius that his fans believe. There are sme really good welters about, Witter was about done, I can imagine Frankie getting the Lonsdale belt to keep but he will be in bother when he moves up a level or 2.

Spot on. You just get the feeling Witter could have done something in that fight, but he didn't.

I think Gavin is capable of mixing it with world class welters, but needs a good six fights first.

Matthew Hatton, Denton Vassell (after a warm up), Lee Purdy, David Barnes are all good fights but I wouldn't hold my breath. Leonard Bundu for the European belt would be good too. What odds would you get on his next three opponents being Ronnie Heffron, Willie Limond and Bradley Skeete?
