How behind this are the NGB's (National Governing Bodies?) i.e ABAE, WABA and ABS? People forget BABA is not a governing body.

WSB in part a commercial venture, so how can UK Sport (lottery and exchequer funded) support this?

Good to see that AIBA have scrapped the city franchise format and gone for national teams.

Viewing figures for the WSB on Premiersports was dire. Premier sports didn't hide it when talking about it on their official facebook page.... basically saying no-one is watching it!

I really cannot see it taking off..... not sure if it has been a success globally. The arena's always look half full. I think part of the problem is that people cannot affiliate with "foreigners" fighting as home fighters etc.

I think it will go down a similar path as the A1 grand prix.

Be interesting to see the viewing figures in the countries that have an interest. Last season it wasn't showcased regularly on British TV sceens. Only allegedly and Eurosport showed the finals... not the regular season.

I just think the whole format is confusing although with AIBA developments it looks like the WSB will be the future and I can see a similar format (no head guards, 10 point system) - entering the Olympics... if this is the case, then I can see WSB taking off.

At the moment even the commentators (in the first season) were like - "is this amateur or pro we just don't know".... cannot fault the standard of the boxing though.

Big difference is that it's another opportunity for ams to earn money and get exposure whilst retaining their am status. So it's supposed to encourage more to stay on. I think most will think it's daft mind. I'm going to have a look at the British team though out of mild interest.

Joe Ward at 85kg is a real handful. Better than a lot of active pros. A puncher with a very exciting style.

When the World Series of Boxing was first announced to help boost the Amateur side of boxing as I (like many a British fight fan) on here was astonished that a British based team fighting out of either say London, Manchester, Liverpool or Sheffield which have always been the great hotbeds of British boxing was not selected as a base for a British franchise in this, because we have (currently) a terrific amateur system and possess a knowledgeable and passionate fan base for the sport and would have generated great gates and atmosphere for every WSB fixture that involved a British team.

Every normal ticket in the this years WSB individual and Team Finals (seperate events) were free. I don't see how this concept makes money. The outlay to hire out the Excel must have been alot and to make no money and securing no British broadcasting rights seems strange.

The IOC in part fund the WSB and in my opinion they are throwing money away. In all honesty it was a failure in the first to seasons. Hopefully the national team concept will make it more interesting to TV and also to fans.
